What Rad Power Bikes announced
Rad Power Bikes named Lentzsch CEO on March 13, 2025. The company described the move as part of a change in how it reached customers: away from a primarily direct-to-consumer approach and toward a more retail-focused model, including partnerships with bike shops.
In the announcement, Lentzsch said, “Rad Power Bikes is at an inflection point, shifting from a direct-to-consumer model to a more retail-focused approach, and it’s an incredible time to come on board.” That statement describes the strategy at the time of her appointment, not necessarily the company’s present direction.
Why Rad said her experience fit
The company emphasized Lentzsch’s consumer-retail and transformation background. It said she had been CEO of Bartell Drugs, where she led the business through the pandemic, strategic changes and its merger with Rite Aid. Those descriptions are Rad Power Bikes’ account of her tenure.

Rad also credited her with leading Pottery Barn’s turnaround and repositioning, and listed leadership roles at Pier 1 Imports and Cost Plus World Market. It said she served as president of the Gift Division and chief marketing officer at Enesco. GeekWire additionally reported that she had held leadership roles at Gump’s and Elephant Pharmacy.
Rad characterized Lentzsch as an especially strong fit for the role. That was the company’s assessment; the announcement did not provide independent performance measures for her prior work or forecast financial results from the appointment.
How the appointment fit Rad’s retail shift
Rad’s announcement connected the CEO change to its effort to build a more physical retail and service presence. The company said it had nine RadRetail locations and more than 1,200 retail and service partners across North America in March 2025. Those were company-reported figures at the time, not current counts.

GeekWire reported that Lentzsch replaced former Sony executive Phil Molyneux, who had stepped down after leading Rad for more than two years. The publication also reported that Rad was laying off an undisclosed number of employees as it shifted away from direct-to-consumer sales. Those details were reported by GeekWire, rather than stated in Rad’s appointment announcement.

In March 2026, Life EV announced that it had completed a court-approved acquisition of the Rad Power Bikes brand, intellectual property, inventory and certain operating assets. Life EV said it planned to continue U.S. retail operations under the Rad Power Bikes brand. The acquisition announcement does not say whether Lentzsch continued as CEO, so her present role cannot be established from these announcements.
Customers should also avoid assuming that warranty and service obligations carried over unchanged with the brand. Rad’s warranty page, updated May 14, 2026, says its current limited warranty applies to qualifying products purchased after May 15, 2026. It also says the new owner is not obligated to provide warranty or service for products purchased before December 15, 2025. Buyers and existing owners should check the current terms for their product and purchase date.
