As of October 11, 2026, the jury in Qualcomm’s contract lawsuit against Arm had not reached a verdict. After about four hours of deliberations on Friday, October 9, jurors were expected to return Tuesday, October 13. That is the reported schedule, not a guarantee; no verdict is established here. The five-day trial took place in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware before Judge Maryellen Noreika. Reuters’ October 9 report, republished by The Star, describes the latest jury status.

What the jury is deciding

Qualcomm brought the current case against Arm, alleging that Arm failed to meet obligations under their licensing arrangements and improperly interfered with Qualcomm’s business. These are allegations, not findings. The jury’s questions concern alleged past conduct; the case also includes a separate issue for the judge.

Software and design deliverables

Qualcomm alleges that Arm failed to provide certain contractually required deliverables, including software patches and tools for Arm designs. The dispute is about obligations under the parties’ agreements, not a general ruling on Arm technology or the chip industry. Qualcomm’s June 2026 Form 10-Q describes the company’s disclosure of the litigation.

Pricing provision

Qualcomm also alleges that a pricing provision was intended to keep its payments within 10% of the lowest price for Arm processor designs. That figure describes Qualcomm’s account of the contract provision; it has not been established as a finding by the jury.

Alleged interference involving Meta

Another claim alleges that Arm improperly interfered with Qualcomm’s relationship with Meta Platforms by leaking a 2024 letter in which Arm said Qualcomm was allegedly in breach of a key license. The claim concerns Qualcomm’s accusation about the letter and its effect on the relationship; the available account does not establish that the allegation has been proven.

Arm’s response and the judge-only issue

Arm’s lawyers argued that Qualcomm had not suffered harm from the alleged conduct and characterized the lawsuit as leverage in a broader licensing dispute. That is Arm’s litigation position, not a court finding. A related bench-trial question is whether Arm negotiated in good faith over license terms. Reuters reported that the judge could decide that issue well after the jury’s verdict; no decision on it is established as of October 11.

Why the case matters to Qualcomm and Arm

Reuters reported that Qualcomm’s license for Arm’s computing architecture runs through 2033. The longer-term question is whether the companies can agree on terms for future versions of the architecture. The jury’s verdict on alleged past breaches or interference would not, by itself, necessarily cancel that license or settle every future licensing term.

This is not the 2024 Nuvia jury trial

The two cases involve the same companies but different claims and contract questions. Arm’s earlier lawsuit concerned whether Qualcomm’s acquisition of Nuvia transferred or permitted use of technology developed under Nuvia’s separate Arm architecture license. The current case is Qualcomm’s affirmative lawsuit against Arm over alleged delivery, pricing, and interference obligations.

Issue Arm’s earlier case Qualcomm’s current case
Who sued whom Arm sued Qualcomm and Nuvia in 2022. Qualcomm sued Arm; the current trial addresses Qualcomm’s claims against Arm.
Core dispute Whether Qualcomm’s acquisition of Nuvia transferred or permitted use of technology created under Nuvia’s separate Arm license. Qualcomm alleges failures involving required deliverables, a pricing provision, and interference with its Meta dealings.
Jury outcome or posture In December 2024, jurors found Qualcomm had not breached Nuvia’s agreement and that certain Qualcomm CPUs incorporating Nuvia-acquired designs were licensed under Qualcomm’s agreement. They did not reach a verdict on whether Nuvia breached its agreement. After about four hours of deliberations on October 9, 2026, jurors had not reached a verdict and were expected back October 13.
What remained open The court entered final judgment for Qualcomm and Nuvia on September 30, 2025. Arm’s June 2026 filing said its appeal to the Third Circuit was pending. The jury’s verdict and a separate judge-only decision on good-faith negotiations remained unresolved as of October 11, 2026.

The earlier case’s judgment and appeal should not be mistaken for an outcome in the current lawsuit. The two proceedings ask different questions. Arm’s June 2026 filing reports its position on the appeal; it is a party disclosure.
