Members start at Burgundy; moving up requires the applicable Qpoints threshold plus Qatar Airways flight activity. Silver, Gold and Platinum also correspond to oneworld Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, respectively. The thresholds change on 19 December 2026, so the dates matter when planning an upgrade or renewal.

These are examples from Qatar Airways’ membership tiers page and benefits comparison, not promises that every benefit applies to every trip. The comparison describes benefits on flights marketed and operated by Qatar Airways, and some services have additional conditions. Baggage rules can vary by route and when an itinerary includes other oneworld airlines.
How many Qpoints are needed to upgrade?
Qatar Airways publishes different upgrade thresholds for two effective periods in 2026. The figures below apply to Qpoints earned within a 12-month period; they are the program’s published criteria, not a guarantee of an individual account outcome.

Check the effective period that applies to your qualification window on Qatar Airways’ Qpoints page. A threshold quoted without its date can be misleading, especially around the 19 December change.

Qpoints required to retain Silver, Gold or Platinum
Renewal thresholds are lower than the corresponding upgrade thresholds in some periods. Qatar Airways lists these retention requirements:

The 12-month column is date-sensitive; the 24-month figures are listed separately by the program. Confirm the applicable period and current account rules on the Qpoints page before relying on a target.
The additional Qatar Airways flight-activity condition
Meeting the Qpoints threshold alone is not the full qualification or retention test. Qatar Airways says members must also meet one of these activity alternatives, alongside the applicable Qpoints criteria:
- Earn at least 20% of their Qpoints on Qatar Airways marketed-and-operated flights; or
- Take at least four Qatar Airways marketed-and-operated flights in the preceding 12 months, or eight in the preceding 24 months.
“Marketed” refers to the airline whose flight number appears on the booking; “operated” is the airline the traveler flies on. The distinction matters for codeshares. A flight carrying a Qatar Airways flight number but operated by another airline is not necessarily a Qatar Airways marketed-and-operated flight.

What the benefits mean in practice
Burgundy
Burgundy is the starting tier. Its listed benefits include Flexi awards, a seat-selection discount, family mileage accrual and free Starlink Wi-Fi. Qatar Airways also lists discounts on named airport and hotel services; eligibility and service-specific terms apply.
Silver
Silver is the first tier linked to oneworld status, mapping to Ruby. Examples include priority check-in and boarding, extra baggage, lounge access and a tier bonus on eligible Qatar Airways flights.
Gold
Gold maps to oneworld Sapphire. Its comparison includes a higher tier bonus than Silver, additional baggage and lounge access, plus 40 Qcredits. The exact amount of baggage and lounge eligibility depends on the applicable benefit rules and itinerary.
Platinum
Platinum maps to oneworld Emerald. The comparison lists a 100% tier bonus on eligible Qatar Airways flights, 60 Qcredits, additional baggage and lounge access. It also lists no Avios expiry for Platinum members.

Qatar Airways lists several eligible earning routes:
- Eligible Qatar Airways and oneworld partner flights.
- Qatar Duty Free purchases. The page gives an example of 1 Qpoint per USD 100 spent.
- Qatar Airways Holidays Flight + Hotel packages. The page gives an example of 1 Qpoint per USD 100 spent on qualifying packages.
- Spending with the Qatar Airways Privilege Club credit card by Doha Bank.
The spending examples and eligibility are program terms, which can change. Flight-specific earning depends on the details of the trip; use Qatar Airways’ Qpoints calculator rather than assuming all fares or partner flights earn at the same rate.
How long does a tier last?
Qatar Airways’ program terms say members progress after earning enough Qpoints in a consecutive 12-month period, and newly attained tier status is valid for 12 months. Retention then depends on satisfying the relevant renewal threshold and flight-activity condition for the applicable assessment period.
