Those are planned dates, not guarantees: Qantas says delivery and the start of service depend on aircraft certification and regulatory approvals.
When is Qantas due to receive its first Project Sunrise A350?
Qantas’s latest schedule, current as of October 8, 2026, places the first A350-1000ULR, named Vega, in April 2027. Its FY26 fleet schedule lists the next two aircraft for May and June 2027 and says two more are expected by the end of November.
These are scheduled and expected delivery dates, not confirmation that the aircraft have been handed over. Qantas says aircraft delivery is subject to certification and regulatory approvals.
How the test flight, delivery and route launch differ

When will Project Sunrise flights start?
Qantas has announced daily nonstop Sydney–London service from October 2027. London is the route with a stated start month; the reviewed Qantas announcements do not give a specific launch date for nonstop Sydney–New York service. Although New York is also a Project Sunrise destination, its launch should not be assumed to coincide with London.

Qantas says ticket sales and service commencement are subject to aircraft certification and regulatory approvals. The October 2027 announcement is therefore a plan, not a guarantee that flights will operate on that date.
What aircraft are included in the order?
Qantas says it ordered 12 A350-1000ULRs for Project Sunrise in May 2022. The ULR aircraft are intended for the airline’s planned nonstop flights from Australia’s east coast to London and New York.

Qantas says the Sunrise cabin was designed with the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre and includes a dedicated Wellbeing Zone for movement and refreshments. The airline has also announced six enclosed First suites in a 1-1-1 layout and Business suites with sliding doors. These are announced cabin features and airline descriptions, not independent evidence of health or comfort outcomes.

Qantas says the aircraft can reduce journey time by up to four hours compared with one-stop flights. That is the airline’s stated comparison, not an independently verified saving or a guarantee for every itinerary.
