Qantas launched its direct Perth–Busselton service on 27 June 2025, with three flights a week planned to bring visitors to Western Australia’s South West. Qantas later published a suspension policy for affected departures scheduled on or after 10 October 2025, so the launch announcement is historical—not confirmation that the route is still operating or bookable.

When did Qantas start flying from Perth to Busselton?

The inaugural Perth–Busselton flight launched on 27 June 2025, according to the Government of Western Australia’s launch statement. Qantas had announced the planned service in February. Contemporary coverage reported that it was scheduled to operate on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays using 100-seat QantasLink Fokker 100 aircraft.

Those were launch-era plans. Qantas subsequently listed flights QF1750 and QF1751 between Perth (PER) and Busselton (BQB) in a suspension policy covering departures scheduled on or after 10 October 2025. That policy does not establish whether other airlines currently serve Busselton.

Does Qantas still fly to Busselton?

The available Qantas policy establishes that the airline published suspension arrangements for the affected Perth–Busselton flights from 10 October 2025; it does not confirm Qantas service in 2026. Check Qantas’s current timetable before planning around a flight. The policy applies to eligible affected bookings and listed options such as rebooking to specified alternatives, retaining the ticket value as credit, or seeking a refund. Travellers with such a booking should consult Qantas or their booking agent for the terms that apply to their ticket.

How often was the Perth–Busselton service scheduled?

The launch statement said the service would operate three times a week. PerthNow’s February 2025 report specified Monday, Friday and Sunday and described the planned aircraft as a 100-seat Fokker 100. Its reported annual capacity was 31,000 seats. That is planned route capacity, not a count of passengers carried.

The Western Australian Government separately forecast more than 15,000 additional inbound seats to the region annually. This was an expectation stated at launch, not the same measure as total route capacity.

Why did Qantas launch the route?

The route was promoted as a way to make the South West more accessible to interstate and international visitors. The government said flights were timed to connect with arrivals in Perth from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Tourism WA and Qantas also planned cooperative interstate marketing.

The Cook Government supported the launch through its $75 million Aviation Recovery Fund, a state-wide aviation recovery fund. The amount is not a published figure for a subsidy paid specifically to the Perth–Busselton route. At the launch, Tourism Minister Reece Whitby said: “We’re always looking to increase visitation into our regions, and this new route delivers on the Cook Government’s commitment to expanding access to our world-class destinations.”

What does Busselton offer visitors?

The region’s appeal includes beaches, wineries and cellar doors, food and beverage experiences, nature-based attractions, trails and events, according to Tourism WA’s Margaret River Region Tourism Investment Profile. The profile lists more than 100 cellar doors and cites 3.4 million overnight visitors to Australia’s South West in 2024.

The profile also reports 158,000 passengers at Busselton Margaret River Airport in 2023–24 and says passenger numbers had grown nearly 50% year on year since 2019, based on airport figures. It cites 100,000 passengers on Jetstar’s Melbourne–Busselton route in its first two years. These historical figures describe the wider airport and region; they do not show demand or performance for Qantas’s Perth route.

How can you travel from Perth to Margaret River?

The Qantas launch and suspension information does not establish which scheduled passenger flights currently serve Busselton, their operating days, or current ground-transport options. Check live airline timetables and Busselton Margaret River Airport information before booking, and verify current ground transport separately. If comparing ways to make the trip, assess current availability, total journey time and cost, departure location, and whether you need a vehicle to visit places beyond the town centres.
