The channel expansion targets aerospace, defense, avionics, space, and other demanding environments; it does not publish part-level specifications, inventory, prices, or ordering terms.
What changed
EE Times reported the distributor addition on August 16, 2024. Q-Tech Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Sentz said, “Adding Spirit expands our supply chain for a wide range of Q-Tech and AXTAL components and systems.” Spirit describes the arrangement as franchised distribution. Q-Tech’s current distributor directory lists Spirit Electronics alongside Dove Electronic Components.
Q-Tech’s company background, reproduced by EE Times, says the company was founded in 1972 and completed its acquisition of AXTAL GmbH & Co KG in early 2023. These are company-history details, not measures of current sales or market share.
What products and applications are described
Spirit’s announcement describes Q-Tech high-reliability crystal oscillators, including hybrid, temperature-controlled, and radiation-hardened products, for space, military, avionics, and extreme-environment applications. Spirit CEO Marti McCurdy said, “Q-Tech has a long-standing flight heritage with their product portfolio of crystal oscillators.” That is Spirit’s characterization; the announcement does not provide independent performance test results or part-specific qualification evidence.

The category description is not enough to determine whether a particular oscillator meets a program’s requirements. The announcement does not state model numbers, frequency or stability specifications, operating-temperature ranges, radiation-tolerance values, qualification details, or selection guidance. Buyers must evaluate the documentation for the exact part against their design and program requirements.
What Spirit’s wider capabilities mean for buyers
Spirit also describes supply-chain services that may be relevant to complex electronics programs: sourcing a full bill of materials, testing and screening to MIL-STD-883, circuit-card assembly, and ASIC programs. EE Times’ company background additionally lists device analysis and foundry services. These are adjacent capabilities, not evidence that any particular service is included with an oscillator purchase or bundled into the distribution arrangement.

What the announcement does not tell you
The announcements and directory establish the channel relationship and broad application context, but do not disclose the information needed to place or evaluate a specific order:
- Which oscillator models Spirit can supply or their current datasheets.
- Inventory, lead times, prices, minimum quantities, or other order terms.
- Territorial scope or whether the arrangement is exclusive.
- Whether testing, screening, assembly, or other services apply to a specific order.
For procurement, request a quote and the current part-specific documentation from Spirit or Q-Tech. Confirm availability and terms directly, and check the applicable qualification and screening evidence rather than inferring suitability from the broad application categories.
