PureVPN for $90: Is the “Lifetime” Deal Still Available?

A 2017 post mentions PureVPN for $90, but no current offer page verifies the price. Historical “lifetime” terms included a five-year initial period and a seller-mediated renewal process.

The $90 PureVPN “lifetime” subscription is not verified as a live deal. The price appears in a 2017 community post, while historical deal terms describe a five-year initial subscription and a renewal process handled through the seller. No current offer page confirms the price, availability, or what a new buyer would receive.

What the $90 PureVPN deal actually refers to

The $90 figure comes from a 2017 Motley Fool Community post, not a current merchant listing. It does not establish that the offer is available today, that a purchase can still be redeemed, or that the same price or conditions apply to any current PureVPN plan. The historical post should be treated as a dated price reference, not a checkout option.

A 2015 StackSocial deal discussion described a five-year initial subscription and said customers could contact StackCommerce at the end of that period to renew at no additional charge. Buyers debated what “lifetime” meant; a seller response clarified that the initial term was five years. Those were representations attached to that historical listing, not verified terms for a current promotion. The archived deal discussion captures the wording and the confusion around it.

Why “lifetime” needs to be read against the written terms

In May 2025, TidBITS writer Adam Engst recounted buying a 2017 PureVPN subscription through StackCommerce and asking for another five-year period. He wrote, “I want to renew my PureVPN subscription per the terms of the deal.” Engst said StackCommerce declined the requested renewal, offered an alternative VPN subscription, and later offered a two-year PureVPN extension. That is one buyer’s account; it does not establish how every purchaser’s request was handled. Engst’s account illustrates why the reseller’s precise promise and any renewal procedure matter.

  • Before buying any similar offer, check the seller’s current page for the initial term and whether “lifetime” means the purchaser’s lifetime, the product’s lifetime, or a fixed subscription period.
  • Confirm who is responsible for renewal, how it must be requested, whether the renewal is guaranteed in writing, and whether the offer is tied to a specific reseller account.
  • Keep the receipt and a copy of the offer terms shown at purchase. A later general PureVPN policy or support page does not prove what a past promotion included.

What PureVPN currently says about privacy

PureVPN’s privacy policy, last updated February 25, 2026, says users provide account information such as name, email address, password, and payment method. It also says the company collects software analytics and statistics and information through support channels. PureVPN says it does not store browsing activity, identifiable connection logs, assigned IP records, a customer’s original IP, connection timestamps, sites visited, outgoing traffic, accessed content, or DNS queries. These are the company’s stated practices, not a claim that it collects no information. The policy also describes limited qualifications for optional Dedicated IP, Extended WireGuard Duration, and Tracker and Ad Blocker features. Read PureVPN’s privacy policy for the qualifications that apply to those features.

What its assessment and support pages establish

PureVPN’s no-log assessment page dates an assessment of VPN servers and supporting infrastructure in different countries to February 16–22, 2023, with post-assessment validation in March and April 2023. The page now refers to a fourth successful assessment and an always-on audit posture, but the available page does not name the auditor or provide a complete current report for that later assessment. The dated 2023 work should not be presented as a current independent test. PureVPN’s assessment page provides the dates and its newer summary claims.

PureVPN Support says one account can have up to 10 devices connected at the same time; its article was updated February 6, 2026. That is the provider’s general current support limit, not proof that the historical $90 promotion included the same allowance. See the support article on simultaneous devices, and verify the specific terms of any offer before relying on that limit.

What the available evidence does—and does not—tell buyers

PureVPN’s own H1 2025 transparency report says it received 41,790 IP takedown notices related to P2P infringement during that reporting period. That is a provider-reported figure, not an independent measure of service quality or a term of the old deal. PureVPN’s transparency report identifies the reporting period and figure.

For a prospective buyer, the decisive issue is not whether a historical post once used the word “lifetime,” but whether a current seller offers the plan and states its price, duration, renewal rights, refund conditions, and included features in writing. The available historical material cannot verify a current $90 PureVPN offer or promise that a present-day buyer would receive a free renewal.
