Applications opened on September 9; the advertisement’s original September 29 deadline was later extended to October 10, 2021. This recruitment cycle has ended, so the dates below are historical, not an open application window.
What the 2021 recruitment covered
Punjab Police Advertisement No. 06 of 2021 invited direct applications for Constable posts in the Technical and Support Services (TSS) cadre. The notice covered 20 domains and specializations or functions, with recruitment for male and female candidates. It also provided a 3% reservation for sportspersons. The advertised vacancy table listed 1,578 open-category vacancies and 762 women vacancies, for a total of 2,340. Punjab Police reserved the right to revise the tentative vacancy count before recruitment was completed.
Because qualifications depended on the domain and specialization, “Technical Cadre” did not mean that every applicant needed the same technical degree. Applicants had to meet the notified requirements for the specific specialization they selected. The advertisement also permitted certain candidates to apply for multiple specializations in some domains, subject to stated limits and eligibility conditions. See the Punjab Police 2021 advertisement for the vacancy and specialization details.
Application dates: original deadline and extension
The online application window opened at 9:00 a.m. on September 9, 2021. The advertisement initially set a closing time of 11:59 p.m. on September 29, 2021. Punjab Police’s recruitment portal and contemporaneous reporting by Scroll.in on the deadline extension identify October 10, 2021, as the extended final deadline. The original and extended dates are different; October 10 was the later deadline. The Punjab Police recruitment portal relates to this completed cycle and may be relevant to candidates checking official records or status.

Eligibility and historical application fees
The notice set the general age range at 18 to 28 years as of January 1, 2021, with applicable upper-age relaxations. Applicants had to be Indian citizens. Educational qualifications were specific to the chosen domain and specialization, and Punjabi language requirements also applied. The advertisement is the source for the exact qualification and other conditions relevant to an individual application.
For at least one specialization or function, the published fee was Rs 1,500 for General candidates, Rs 800 for SC/ST/BC/EWS candidates, and Rs 700 for Ex-Servicemen/Lineal Descendants. Each additional specialization or function carried an additional fee of Rs 600. These are fees stated for the 2021 application process, not current charges.

How the selection process worked
The advertised process had two phases. Phase I used two computer-based tests for merit. Candidates meeting the prescribed cutoff advanced to Phase II, where physical measurement, physical screening, and document scrutiny were qualifying stages. Sportsperson candidates also faced an eligibility check of their sports achievements.
Phase I: computer-based tests
Test 1 covered general knowledge and subjects including history, geography, current affairs, quantitative and numerical aptitude, logical reasoning, English fundamentals, computers, and IT/ITES. Both tests were objective and, according to the advertisement, conducted in English or Punjabi. Test 2 included domain-specific content; the notice provides the relevant detail for each specialization.

Phase II: physical and document checks
The Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Screening Test (PST) were qualifying rather than merit-scored stages, followed by document scrutiny. Requirements varied by the notice’s rules, so candidates reviewing the cycle should use the advertisement’s detailed physical-test and documentation sections rather than infer standards from the general recruitment summary.

This was a 2021 recruitment cycle, not a current opening. The recruitment portal surfaces a provisional shortlist, but the material available here does not establish a complete final outcome. Candidates seeking an individual result or status should consult official Punjab Police records and portal notices, rather than treating the provisional shortlist as a final selection list.
