PTCL said in a July 15, 2025 disclosure that it was verifying pensioners’ records after the Supreme Court of Pakistan disposed of the company’s review petition concerning pension benefits on July 10. The company said verified data would go to the Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust (PTET) to calculate PTCL’s required contribution. Its notice described the exercise as ongoing and gave no completion date or final liability amount.
What PTCL announced
In a material-information disclosure to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, PTCL said it was checking pensioner data and would share the verified records with PTET. PTCL described the intended handoff this way: “Once verified, the data will be shared with the Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust to calculate the required contribution from PTCL.” That statement set out the company’s plan; it does not establish that the handoff has since happened.
PTCL called the work “a complex and time-consuming exercise.” It said it would reflect the financial impact in its records after finalizing the relevant records and data, in keeping with applicable accounting and corporate-law principles. The July 15, 2025 notice did not state a target completion date, the number of pensioners being checked, or a final contribution or liability figure. PTCL’s Form-25 disclosure, July 15, 2025.
What the Supreme Court decision means—and what it does not settle here
PTCL’s disclosure says the Supreme Court disposed of its review petition on July 10, 2025, and that government increases were admissible to the extent applicable to civil servants. Contemporary coverage characterized the two-to-one ruling as recognizing continuing pension rights for employees transferred from the Telegraph and Telephone Department (T&T) to the Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTC), and later to PTCL; Justice Ayesha A. Malik dissented. Dawn’s July 11, 2025 report and Business Recorder’s report summarize the decision.

The full judgment is not available in the cited material, so these broad descriptions should not be treated as a determination of every former employee’s eligibility or classification. In particular, a person’s status may depend on the relevant employment history and legal category. PTCL’s verification and PTET’s calculation are administrative steps following the decision; they are not a substitute for the judgment’s terms or an individual eligibility determination.
How verification connects to PTCL’s contribution
- PTCL checks pensioner records. The company said it was verifying data; the disclosure does not specify the records or a separate procedure for pensioners to submit or correct information.
- PTCL intends to share verified data with PTET. The filing describes this as a future handoff, not a completed one.
- PTET calculates the required contribution from PTCL. PTET administers pension disbursement, while PTCL said the trust would use the verified data to calculate the contribution needed from the company.
- PTCL records the financial impact. The company said it would do so after relevant records and data were finalized; the July 2025 disclosure did not report the resulting amount.
PTCL’s first-quarter 2025 report provides earlier procedural context: it said the pension cases were fixed for hearing on February 11, written submissions were directed, and judgment was reserved. That was the pre-decision position, superseded by the July ruling. PTCL First Quarter Report 2025.

Is the verification complete, and what is the amount?
The available cited sources do not establish whether PTCL completed verification or the data handoff after its July 2025 announcement, nor do they give a final contribution or liability amount as of October 8, 2026. The only confirmed status here is what PTCL reported in its dated filing: verification was underway and the exercise was complex and time-consuming. A final amount should not be inferred from the court decision or from the company’s stated plan.

PTET says it was established under the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization) Act 1996 to disburse PTCL pensions. Its official website lists pensioner support for matters such as bank-account issues, new pension and family-pension cases, life certificates, death-case notices, and disbursement status. For an individual payment, life-certificate, family-pension, bank-account, or case-status question, use PTET’s official website and confirm the current contact channel and required documents there. The cited material does not establish a dedicated pensioner-facing procedure or document list for PTCL’s data-verification exercise.
