What the June 3, 2021 tracker reported
The exact-title TechTimes article, published June 3, 2021, reported that Best Buy’s restock had started at 3:40 p.m. EDT and Walmart’s at 3:00 p.m. EDT. These were reported event times on one day, not retailer promises or a calendar shoppers could rely on. TechTimes’ June 3, 2021 report summarized approaches including retailer alerts, stock trackers, a Sony Direct queue, persistence, bundles, and advance sign-up.
TechRadar’s contemporaneous June coverage described Walmart drops often occurring on Thursdays around 3 p.m. EDT, but also documented exceptions: a small overnight Digital Edition event and an expected drop that was skipped. Best Buy’s days and times also changed during that period. The reports show why alerts were useful—and why a predicted time could not be treated as dependable. How Twitter trackers helped—and what they could not do
Restock accounts were alert services, not sellers. Their role was to point shoppers toward retailer listings when inventory appeared. An alert could arrive amid heavy competition, and a listing could sell out before checkout; knowing an expected time did not ensure a purchase.

TechRadar reproduced tracker guidance from Matt Swider: “Don’t buy from Twitter users – which are all scams.” This is a warning attributed to that tracker guidance, not an official regulator statement. How to prepare for a retailer drop
- Follow alerts, but keep retailer pages as the destination. Use tracker posts to find a listing; confirm the product and seller at the retailer before ordering.
- Set up checkout in advance. The 2021 retailer guidance recommended having an account and payment and delivery details ready. This could reduce checkout friction, but it did not guarantee inventory or success. Retailer buying guidance
- Check the fulfillment details before paying. The cited retailer guide described differences in fulfillment, including pickup. Read the selected listing’s available delivery or pickup terms rather than assuming every order would be shipped.
- Consider bundles only on their actual terms. A bundle may change the total cost and include items you do not need. Compare the complete price and contents with your budget before deciding.
- Expect uncertainty. A tracker’s expected window could shift, be skipped, or involve only limited inventory. Do not spend money you cannot afford to tie up or treat repeated attempts as a reason to overspend.
What the historical prices do—and do not—tell you
