The deal’s price and financial terms were not disclosed. Proofpoint’s 2026 product sheet now lists Nuclei Discovery and Archive Suite within that portfolio.
What does Nuclei do?
Nuclei provides technology for capturing, retaining, archiving, and analyzing workplace communications for compliance and investigations. In its May 2025 announcement, Proofpoint said Nuclei’s platform connected with more than 100 applications and could automatically capture and archive messages, attachments, and metadata. Proofpoint also reported speech recognition in more than 120 languages, real-time transcription, automatic translation, and video analysis. These figures and capabilities are Proofpoint’s descriptions, not independent performance tests. Read Proofpoint’s acquisition announcement.
Why did Proofpoint buy Nuclei?
The announced rationale was to expand Proofpoint’s DCG offering: tools organizations use to capture, retain, and analyze communications across workplace collaboration services. Proofpoint named Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, Webex, WhatsApp, and RingCentral Voice as examples. It also said it would continue integrations with archive and data-governance platforms. The announcement explains the strategic fit, but it does not disclose the purchase price or transaction terms; no valuation can be inferred from it.
How does Nuclei fit into Proofpoint’s products?
Proofpoint’s 2026 Nuclei Discovery and Archive Suite data sheet places the suite in its Digital Communications Governance portfolio. The vendor describes capabilities for capture, retention, search, review, investigation, supervision, reconciliation, defensible disposal, and export. It also lists self-service search, litigation hold, personal archive access for end users, and native review of messages, attachments, audio, and video, alongside AI-powered conduct and compliance risk monitoring. These are product descriptions, not independently verified results. See the 2026 product data sheet.

Proofpoint later linked Nuclei technology to Prism Investigator. In a May 6, 2026 announcement, the company said Prism Investigator was built on Nuclei technology and targeted availability for mid-June 2026. That announcement establishes the stated plan, not that the target date was met. Read the Prism Investigator announcement.
What happens to Nuclei customers?
A Nuclei support notice updated June 11, 2026 said capture services and support would continue for direct and partner-channel customers and that existing subscriptions would continue uninterrupted. This reports what customers were told at that time; it is not a guarantee about future contracts, service terms, or functionality. Read Nuclei’s customer support notice.

What is known about the deal—and what is not?
The confirmed milestone in the cited sources is Proofpoint’s acquisition announcement on May 21, 2025. Those sources do not establish the deal’s financial terms or provide a complete chronology of Proofpoint acquisitions, so the Nuclei announcement alone cannot substantiate a broader claim about the pace or scale of an acquisition spree. They also do not provide an independent assessment of product performance, security testing, customer adoption, or a current connector-by-connector list.
