PrizePicks announced The Esports Lab on June 11, 2024, as a web destination to help fantasy sports players learn about esports through beginner-focused education, statistics and live matches. Its stated launch games were Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), League of Legends and Dota 2. The launch announcement and coverage document what the service was designed to do then; they do not establish whether it is available today or what it currently supports.
What The Esports Lab offered at launch
PrizePicks presented the Lab as an onboarding resource for fans who wanted to follow esports but were unsure where to start. Its June 2024 announcement described statistics, live matches and educational resources connected to recognized tournaments. GamesBeat’s launch coverage added that the experience included embedded match streams, live stats, explanations of game rules and basic guidance on evaluating player performance.
That combination addressed a practical barrier beyond learning the rules: finding a match to watch. PrizePicks Senior Director of Esports Adam Boothe told GamesBeat that even someone familiar with a game might struggle to locate a specific tier-two Counter-Strike broadcast. The Lab’s stated role was to bring match discovery and introductory context together, rather than assume a new fan already knew where to look.
Which games and platforms were included?
At launch, PrizePicks named three titles: CS2, League of Legends and Dota 2. The company said it planned to add more games during 2024, but the announcement does not verify which additions, if any, followed.

- Comfort is King: Comfort’s in the Cloud III’s DNA. Built for gamers who can’t have an uncomfortable headset ruin the flow of their full-combo, disrupt their speedrun, or knocking them out of the zone.
- Audio Tuned for Your Entertainment: Angled 53mm drivers have been tuned by HyperX audio engineers to provide the optimal listening experience that accents the dynamic sounds of gaming.
- Upgraded Microphone for Clarity and Accuracy: Captures high-quality audio for clear voice chat and calls. The mic is noise-cancelling and features a built-in mesh filter to omit disruptive sounds and LED mic mute indicator lets you know when you’re muted.
- Durability, for the Toughest of Battles: The headset is flexible and features an aluminum frame so it’s resilient against travel, accidents, mishaps, and your ‘level-headed’ reactions to losses and defeat screens.
The initial experience was available on desktop and mobile web. PrizePicks said iOS and Android apps were planned; that statement described a roadmap, not proof that either app later launched. The cited launch coverage does not establish the Lab’s current availability, platform support or game roster.
How the fantasy element worked
GamesBeat described a simplified fantasy format in which users drafted lineups of at least two players and predicted whether a player’s performance would go over or under a projection for a statistic, typically kills. The Lab reportedly displayed each player’s hit rate across their five most recent matches. These details describe the launch-era product covered by GamesBeat, not necessarily its present design.

- TRIFORCE TITANIUM 50 MM DRIVERS — Our cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows
- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- VOLUME WHEEL — Its on-headset control makes it convenient to adjust audio levels without having to fiddle with any system or program settings
The educational layer was intended to help newcomers interpret player performance, while the fantasy format gave them a way to engage with match statistics. Boothe described the intended audience as people who were comfortable with technology, gaming and sports fandom but found esports fantasy intimidating. That is PrizePicks’ product framing as reported by GamesBeat, not an independent finding about the broader esports audience.
PrizePicks’ reported esports growth
PrizePicks used its own platform figures to explain the launch. In its June 11, 2024 announcement, the company reported that more than 1 million members had built an esports lineup to date, and that its total esports entry fees rose by more than 110% between 2022 and 2023. It also said Counter-Strike ranked fourth among sports on PrizePicks for 2023 entry fees and lineups built, behind professional basketball, football and baseball.

Bayes Esports data partnership
On June 25, 2024, PrizePicks announced a partnership with Bayes Esports. PrizePicks said Bayes data powered the detailed-statistics experience for CS2 and Dota 2. The announcement listed live match data, historical data and media widgets among the products covered by the deal. It does not establish whether the partnership or its precise coverage continues unchanged.

What the launch says—and does not say—about the product
The launch positioned The Esports Lab as an introductory destination for fantasy fans, not as a specialist statistics service. GamesBeat reported Boothe saying the Lab was not intended to be “HLTV 2.0.” The available launch accounts support that distinction in intended audience, but do not provide evidence for a broader comparison of data depth, accuracy or performance against specialist esports sites.
