The 20TB Prism Drive offer behind this headline expired on October 23, 2023. Its advertised $89.97 price against a stated $1,494 regular price works out to about 94% off—not 89%. As of October 5, 2026, Prism Drive lists annual plans and a separate limited-time one-time offer for 20 additional TB, but its page does not establish that the latter provides lifetime service.
What happened to the 20TB lifetime offer?
The headline refers to a Cult of Mac Deals promotion published October 20, 2023. It advertised 20TB of Prism Drive storage for $89.97, compared with a stated regular price of $1,494, and said the deal ended October 23, 2023. It is an expired promotion, not a price readers can assume is available now.
Using the two prices printed in that article, the discount is approximately 94.0%: ($1,494 − $89.97) ÷ $1,494. That is a calculation from the advertised figures, not a separately published savings statistic.
What Prism Drive lists now
Prism Drive’s official pricing page, observed October 5, 2026, lists three annual plans. A separate “Double your storage” page advertises a limited-time one-time payment for 20 additional TB. The pages do not establish that this offer is the same as the expired 2023 promotion.

Prices and limited-time offers can change. These figures are not a direct lifetime-value comparison: the first three recur annually, while the one-time page does not state a verified service duration. Confirm the current checkout terms before paying.
Features and limits to check before subscribing
The annual plans and the one-time offer page list unlimited shared traffic, zero-knowledge encryption, password-protected sharing, 30-day Trash history, and inline previews. Prism Drive’s FAQ says common file types can be previewed and FTP/SFTP is not supported. It also describes recovery from Trash for 30 days and says shared links may be password-protected or assigned expiration dates.

The 2023 promotion described access across devices, drag-and-drop file management, shareable links and support for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android. Those are claims in the dated promotion, not independent test results or a verified current platform-compatibility list.
What the security and privacy claims mean
Prism Drive’s security page says data is encrypted at rest and in transit and describes the provider’s hosting and durability practices. These are provider statements, not independent validation. Its pricing page uses the phrase “zero-knowledge encryption,” but the available materials do not explain enough of the technical design to infer additional protections from that label alone.

A one-time payment is not, by itself, proof of perpetual access. The offer page does not specify the service duration, what happens to files if an account closes, or what happens if the service is discontinued. Ask Prism Drive to clarify these points in writing before treating the $59 offer as lifetime storage.

- Perfect for hard drive expansion and backup storage for your entire Windows OS system! (Do it before it crash, you never know when it will happen! "Daily schedule backup is no longer optional" )
- Does the one-time payment grant lifetime service, and how does the provider define “lifetime”?
- What happens to stored files if the account is closed, payment terms change, or Prism Drive discontinues the service?
- Does the advertised 20TB add to an existing plan, and are there account or upload limits?
- Which current apps and operating systems are supported?
- What privacy and security terms apply to your account, and how can you retrieve your data?
A cloud account also should not be the only copy of important documents or photos. Keep a separate backup—such as an external drive—if losing access to the account would matter. A Cult of Mac cloud-storage index includes an example of a bundle pairing cloud storage with a 1TB external drive; that is a separate offer, not a required Prism Drive accessory.
