Salary Sport estimated the average weekly wage at £9,905 for Preston North End players aged 22 and over in 2023/24. That estimate covers 22 players with listed wage estimates—not all 48 players in the squad—and is not an official club-confirmed average.
What the £9,905 estimate covers
Salary Sport’s 2023/24 season page gives an average weekly wage of £9,905 for its 22-and-over subset. The site lists a squad of 48 but says the average is based on 22 players for whom it has a wage estimate. The figure should therefore be read as a third-party estimate for that subset, not as the confirmed average pay of every Preston North End player.
Salary Sport’s Preston North End 2023/24 estimates also put the squad’s estimated weekly wage bill at £227,930. It identifies Alan Browne as the highest earner in its estimates, at £19,000 a week, and says the top five earners account for 36% of the estimated squad wage bill. These figures are Salary Sport estimates, not evidence that the club officially disclosed individual salaries or its payroll.
Why club staff-cost figures do not give a player average
Salary Sport’s 2023/24 financial summary reports revenue of £16,906,000, wages and salaries of £19,239,000, social security costs of £2,655,000, and total staff costs of £21,966,000. The summary says staff costs include players as well as other staff, including coaching and academy staff. Those club-wide totals cannot be treated as player-only wages or divided by the 48-player squad to calculate an average player salary.

Salary Sport’s financial summary is consequently a different measure from its estimated individual player wages. Companies House’ filing-history page lists full accounts made up to 30 June 2023; that entry does not verify individual player pay for the 2023/24 season. Preston North End Football Club Limited’s Companies House filing history does not establish an official all-player average for that season.
