The latest India-specific SIP figures here cover July 31, 2025 to July 31, 2026 and report equity benchmarks only. They cannot be used to rank gold, silver, Bitcoin and equities on a like-for-like basis.
For that period, Parag Parikh Mutual Fund’s July 2026 factsheet reports an annualised SIP return of 0.60% for its direct-plan illustration, alongside SIP benchmark returns of -0.61% for the Nifty 50 TRI and 5.89% for the Nifty 500 TRI. Those are factsheet-specific figures, not a cross-asset SIP comparison or a prediction of future returns.

What the available one-year figures say
Parag Parikh Mutual Fund’s July 2026 factsheet illustrates a monthly SIP of ₹10,000 invested on the first of each month. For July 31, 2025 to July 31, 2026, it reports ₹1,20,000 invested and a direct-plan market value of ₹1,20,389, with a 0.60% annualised SIP return.

In the same factsheet’s SIP comparison for that period, the reported annualised returns are -0.61% for the Nifty 50 TRI and 5.89% for the Nifty 500 TRI. Attribute each figure to that source and period: 0.60% annualised SIP return — Parag Parikh Mutual Fund, 2026; -0.61% Nifty 50 TRI SIP return — Parag Parikh Mutual Fund, 2026; and 5.89% Nifty 500 TRI SIP return — Parag Parikh Mutual Fund, 2026.
#1 Best Overall
The difference between the illustrated investment and ending market value is ₹389, calculated from the factsheet’s ₹1,20,389 value minus ₹1,20,000 invested. It is the arithmetic gain in that particular illustration, not a general SIP outcome or a basis for comparing it with one-time investments in other assets.
Why these figures cannot identify the best asset
A fair ranking needs matched observations: the same start and end dates, the same currency, and a defined investment proxy for each asset. The available factsheet figures cover equity SIPs, not recurring monthly purchases of precious metals or crypto. The available cross-asset comparison is also not current enough to fill that gap.

NSE Market Pulse’s September 2025 issue compares global asset-class performance as of September 11, 2025. It notes that equity-index returns use total-return index values, except for the Shanghai SE Composite Index. That is useful historical context and a reminder that methodology matters, but it does not establish which asset class led in the year ending July or October 2026.

How to compare one-year returns fairly
Before deciding that one asset “performed better,” make sure the comparison answers all of these questions:
Rank #3
- Are the dates identical? Use a shared start and end date. A return ending in September 2025 cannot be ranked against a return ending in July 2026 as though both measured the same year.
- Are returns in the same currency? For an India-based investor comparing assets priced abroad, state how foreign-currency returns were converted to INR. Exchange-rate movements can change the rupee result.
- What exactly is the investment proxy? Name the index, fund, metal price series or crypto price series. An index is not itself a directly held investment, and a market price may not reflect the costs of an investable product.
- Is it a lump sum or an SIP? A lump-sum return measures one investment made at the start. An SIP return combines contributions made on different dates, so each instalment has a different time in the market.
- Is it price return or total return? State whether distributions are included and reinvested. NSE Market Pulse’s September 2025 comparison identifies total-return treatment for equity indexes, with the stated Shanghai exception.
- Are costs and risk measured consistently? Fees, taxes, spreads and product structure can affect realised results. A return ranking also says nothing by itself about volatility or drawdowns; matched risk measures across all asset groups are not established by the figures above.
Why an SIP result differs from a one-time return
With an SIP, contributions enter the market at multiple points during the period. The final value therefore reflects both asset performance and the timing of those contributions. A one-year price change from the first date to the last does not tell you what a series of monthly purchases would have earned.
Annualised SIP returns are also not interchangeable with a simple profit divided by the total contributed. In the Parag Parikh Mutual Fund illustration, the reported 0.60% is the factsheet’s annualised return metric; the ₹389 difference between invested amount and ending value is a separate arithmetic calculation. Neither figure can be applied to a different asset or contribution schedule.
Rank #4
What can be concluded for an India-based investor
The July 2026 factsheet provides a dated illustration and two equity benchmark SIP figures, while NSE Market Pulse provides an older cross-asset snapshot with a stated equity-return methodology. Together, they explain why dates and return definitions must be aligned, but they do not answer which of precious metals, crypto or equities delivered the best one-year return or SIP gain across the same period.
