Prada bought Versace from Capri Holdings in a transaction announced at an enterprise value of €1.25 billion ($1.375 billion)—about $1.4 billion—and completed on December 2, 2025. The announced enterprise value and Capri’s closing disclosure of cash consideration are distinct descriptions of the deal.
How much did Prada pay for Versace?
When Prada announced the agreement on April 10, 2025, it put the transaction’s enterprise value at €1.25 billion ($1.375 billion), on a debt- and cash-free basis. That is the basis for the rounded “$1.4 billion” headline figure. Prada’s agreement announcement describes the agreed valuation.
In its closing disclosure, Capri Holdings described the consideration as $1.375 billion in cash, subject to adjustments for net indebtedness, working capital and transaction expenses. Enterprise value in the agreement and cash consideration reported at closing are not interchangeable: they describe the deal at different stages and on different stated bases. When did the acquisition close?
Prada announced on December 2, 2025, that it had completed the acquisition after receiving all required regulatory clearances. The purchase was therefore no longer pending as of that date. Prada’s closing announcement confirms completion.

Who bought and sold the fashion house?
Prada S.p.A. acquired 100% of Versace from Capri Holdings. Capri’s closing announcement said chairman and CEO John D. Idol planned to use the proceeds to repay the majority of the company’s debt, which he said would substantially strengthen its balance sheet.
