Poolhouse’s $34 million raise was a seed round announced in April 2025. It was followed by a separate $55 million growth investment announced by Bluestone Equity Partners in July 2026. Founded by Topgolf and Puttshack creators Steve and Dave Jolliffe, Poolhouse combines a London pool venue with BillyQ, a technology platform that adds interactive digital features to conventional pool tables.
What is Poolhouse?
Poolhouse is a cue-sports and hospitality company built around premium pool venues and BillyQ, its proprietary interactive platform. The business has two connected growth paths: operating or franchising branded venues, and expanding BillyQ into other hospitality settings. The announcements do not disclose how much revenue either path generates, or how the company divides investment between them.
The company was founded by brothers Steve and Dave Jolliffe, whose previous ventures include Topgolf and Puttshack. Poolhouse’s 2025 seed announcement described the concept as a way to apply technology to pool; in 2026, Steve Jolliffe said the company saw an opportunity to improve the experience around a widely played game. These are two distinct financing events at different stages, not competing accounts of one round. Neither cited announcement states a post-money valuation. The dollar amounts are announced investments; they do not establish Poolhouse’s valuation, revenue, profitability, or the terms of either financing.

What is BillyQ, and how does gamified pool work?
BillyQ is Poolhouse’s interactive cue-sports platform. According to Bluestone’s 2026 announcement, it uses projection and precision tracking to add digital content to a pool table. The platform is described as supporting interactive games, automated scoring, player analytics, and a handicapping model intended to help players of different abilities compete more evenly. Poolhouse says BillyQ was developed with the team behind Hawk-Eye. These are company and investor descriptions; there is no independent product test in the cited material.
The concept keeps ordinary tables, balls, and cues, adding a responsive digital layer to play. The Guardian’s 2025 report described projected targets and obstacles as part of the planned experience. That earlier report also said Poolhouse intended to sell equipment to other venues as well as operate its own sites and franchise. Has Poolhouse opened? Where is its London venue?
Yes. Bluestone reported in July 2026 that Poolhouse’s Liverpool Street flagship had opened. The company profile lists the venue at 100 Liverpool Street and marks it 18+. This updates the April 2025 seed announcement, which described a planned 21,500-square-foot Liverpool Street site, and the Guardian’s report that the first London venue was planned for the following year. Where does Poolhouse plan to expand?
Bluestone says Poolhouse has landlord interest in New York City and Nashville, and reports that locations in New York City, Nashville, and Australia are underway. The company has an executed franchise agreement with Australia’s Signature Hospitality Group. The announcement does not establish that any of those additional locations are open, so they should be treated as planned or in progress rather than operating venues.

Poolhouse also says it plans to extend BillyQ beyond its own branded venues into hotels, traditional pool halls, casinos, bars, and eventually residential settings. A home product is a plan, not an established consumer offering. The available announcements do not give licensing terms, launch dates, or pricing for these channels.
What the funding and market figures do—and do not—show
Bluestone’s July 2026 investment announcement cites more than 200 million weekly cue-sports players globally and an approximately $35 billion total addressable market. Those are figures reported by the investor, not independently established counts or a disclosed Poolhouse revenue opportunity. A large market estimate does not show what share the company can capture.

Poolhouse is entering the broader competitive-socialising category, where venues mix activities such as bowling, mini-golf, escape rooms, darts, shuffleboard, and table tennis with food and drink. In a 2025 Guardian report, Mintel consumer leisure habits director Paul Davies said Mintel research found 18-to-24-year-olds were as likely to participate in competitive socialising as to drink in a pub. The public announcements establish financing, the London flagship’s reported opening, and the company’s stated product and expansion plans. They do not disclose venue revenue, profitability, customer counts, unit economics, financing valuations, or the revenue split between venues and BillyQ. They also do not establish opening dates for expansion sites or the availability of a home version. For a personal-finance reader, the key distinction is that fundraising and a large market estimate are not evidence of a company’s financial results or a guaranteed commercial outcome.
