The program includes training and support as well as the aircraft, and the first three F-35As arrived at Łask on 22 May 2026. That is a significant modernization milestone—not proof that Poland has already achieved air superiority.
How many F-35s did Poland buy?
Poland’s January 2020 acquisition arrangement covers 32 F-35A aircraft, according to the Polish Ministry of National Defence program page. The F-35A is the conventional take-off and landing variant. The ministry’s June 2026 announcement says the 32 aircraft were being accepted into Polish service.
That announcement also refers to two further squadrons as a future program ambition. It does not establish a separate order for another 32 aircraft, so the confirmed quantity in the cited material remains 32.
When did Poland’s F-35s arrive?
The first three Polish F-35As arrived at Łask on 22 May 2026, the Ministry of National Defence reported in its arrival announcement. Lockheed Martin described their arrival as an important milestone for Poland’s defense and regional security; that is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independent measurement of the aircraft’s effect.

The arrival followed an earlier phase in which aircraft were assigned to training in the United States. It marks the start of aircraft deliveries to Poland, not evidence by itself of a particular operational readiness level.
Where did Polish F-35 training take place?
Poland’s defence ministry said the first six aircraft were to be temporarily stationed in the United States during 2024–2025 for flying and technical personnel training. Lockheed Martin identified Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Arkansas as the initial training location. The rollout of Poland’s first F-35A, named Husarz, took place on 28 August 2024, with Ebbing identified for that initial training arrangement.

These descriptions concern the program’s initial phase; they do not establish that every later training activity or aircraft basing arrangement remains the same. The ministry’s program information describes the U.S.-based training plan, while Lockheed Martin’s rollout announcement names Ebbing.
What does Poland’s F-35 contract include?
The acquisition is broader than the airframes. The Polish Ministry of National Defence says the contract includes spare engines, mission simulators, service support, pilot training and ground-crew training. These elements support the work of introducing and sustaining the aircraft; the cited information does not quantify readiness, operating costs or the results of the training program.

What does “Husarz” mean for the program?
Husarz is the name given to Poland’s first F-35A, unveiled at Lockheed Martin’s 28 August 2024 rollout ceremony. The name identifies the aircraft in the rollout announcement; it does not indicate a separate variant or a different aircraft order. Lockheed Martin’s announcement and the Polish ministry’s account of the unveiling cover the event.
What is the industrial-cooperation component?
The ministry says a January 2020 memorandum between Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and Lockheed Martin initiated industrial cooperation connected with the program. The cited account does not quantify investment, jobs or Polish industry’s eventual workshare, so those outcomes should not be inferred from the memorandum alone.

Does Poland’s F-35 arrival mean it has achieved air superiority?
No such conclusion follows from the delivery announcement. The F-35A program represents Poland’s intended modernization and integration of a fifth-generation aircraft, but the cited official and manufacturer announcements do not provide a Polish operational test, readiness certification, combat-performance result or comparative analysis against a named adversary. “A new era of air superiority” is strategic framing, not a measured outcome established by these announcements.
For context, the Polish Ministry of National Defence’s 12 June 2026 statement concerns aircraft being accepted into service and a prospective aspiration for two additional squadrons. It should not be read as proof of a second order or as a quantified assessment of combat capability.
