Which Pokémon Oreo was the rarest?
Mew was the hardest design to find, according to Oreo’s statement reported by CBS News MoneyWatch on September 27, 2021. Oreo said the designs ranged from easy to hard to find and that Mew appeared on an “extremely limited amount” of the total cookies produced. Dentsu Creative’s campaign case study also names Dratini and Lapras, along with Mew, as harder-to-find designs.
The collaboration featured 16 character designs embossed on Oreo sandwich cookies. No exact production counts or odds for any design have been established, so “rarest” means the design identified as hardest to find—not a known one-in-X probability.
What did Pokémon Oreos cost, and what did Mew cookies sell for?
The reported prices below describe the 2021 launch period, not current values. In its September 26, 2021 report, NPR described launch-period retail packs as costing under $4. It also reported a wide gulf between sellers’ asking prices and the sold listings it reviewed:

Another launch-period account illustrates why spectacular numbers need context. CBS News reported that a dozen sellers had Mew cookies listed at $25,000 and one seller asked $30,000. Those were asking prices, not evidence that buyers paid those amounts. Dentsu Creative later described listings reaching hundreds of dollars and rare examples listed for $30,000; that campaign case study also does not establish present-day sale values.
How much is a Mew Oreo worth on eBay now?
There is no established current price in the available evidence. An active listing shows only what a seller hopes to receive; it does not show what a buyer paid. The eBay page checked on October 8, 2026 confirms that a listing page exists, but it does not provide a dependable series of completed sales. No current completed-sale benchmark for an individual Mew cookie or sealed pack is established.

To make your own comparison, look for completed sales rather than active listings and keep unlike items separate:
- Cookie or sealed pack: These are different items and should not be compared as if they were interchangeable.
- Asking price or sold price: A high active ask is not market evidence of the same strength as a completed transaction.
- Character design: Mew, Dratini, and Lapras were identified as harder to find than other designs, but exact rarity odds are not available.
- Date and condition claims: Use dated transactions and examine the packaging and cookie shown. The sources do not establish a standard grading or authentication system for these cookies, so seller language such as “mint” is not an independent grade.
Why did the launch prices become so extreme?
The collaboration combined a limited-edition product with a collectible character design, inviting buyers to treat a snack as a collectible. Dennis Lee, a staff writer at The Takeout, told NPR: “The thing about Pokemon, it was designed for people to just go collector crazy.” Dentsu Creative characterized the collaboration as OREO’s fastest-selling and top-grossing limited-edition launch to that point, but its case study gives no sales total. Neither that description nor an intense burst of launch-period listings establishes lasting resale demand.
