Quora’s Poe advertises subscriptions starting at $4.99 per month, commonly rounded to $5. The cheapest tier is listed with 10,000 compute points per day, which users spend across bots and models. It is a low-cost way to try several AI providers, not an unlimited subscription to premium models. Your price and available plans can vary by country and by whether you subscribe on Poe’s website or through an app store.
What the $5 price means
Poe introduced its low-cost tier on March 25, 2025, as an entry point between its free offering and more expensive subscriptions. The company’s current pages continue to advertise a starting price of $4.99 a month. That is a starting price, not a guarantee that every customer will see or pay that exact amount: taxes, currency conversion, regional availability, and platform billing can affect the checkout total. Check the price and plan details shown in your own account before paying. Poe’s About page and subscription page list current plan information.
The launch announcement also introduced a $250 monthly tier for high-usage customers. That history matters because the $5 option is not a newly announced plan: it was introduced in 2025 and remains Poe’s advertised low-cost starting point. TechCrunch reported on the launch.
What the cheapest plan includes
Poe brings bots and models from multiple providers into one interface. Its catalog spans text and, where available, image, video, and audio tools. The cheapest paid tier is listed as providing 10,000 points per day, more usage than the free tier, and access to premium bots. Paid users can also buy add-on points. The precise plan display and bot catalog can change, so use Poe’s live plan page and the cost shown on each bot rather than treating any model list as permanent. Poe’s purchase FAQ describes paid access and add-on points.

At the March 2025 launch, Poe named GPT-4.5, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, o3-mini, and ElevenLabs among the premium bots available. Those are launch-era examples, not a promise that the same models remain available now. Poe’s current catalog includes changing offerings from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others; confirm that the model you want is listed in your account before subscribing.
How Poe points work
Points are usage credits, not a fixed number of messages. A bot request consumes the amount displayed for that bot, and the cost can vary with the model, input and output length, media type, or other compute-intensive features. Poe lets users see a bot’s point cost before sending a request. A short exchange with a lightweight text bot may use points slowly; long-context chats, premium reasoning models, or image, video, and audio generation can use them much faster. There is no reliable universal conversion from 10,000 points to a number of messages.

- Daily allowance: The cheapest tier is listed at 10,000 points per day. Check the live plan terms for how your specific subscription allowance is delivered.
- Rollover: Unused subscription points generally do not carry over unless the selected plan says otherwise. Free-user points reset after a 24-hour period and do not roll over.
- Add-on points: Subscribers can purchase additional points, separate from the recurring subscription allowance; add-ons may have their own expiration rules.
- Point value: Poe’s FAQ gives an approximate reference rate of $30 per 1 million pre-purchased points. That is not a universal conversion for subscription points or a promise about the cost of any particular model.
For the current explanation of resets and point costs, see Poe’s FAQ and its terms of sale. Bot availability, features, and pricing can change, including for creator-built bots.
Is premium-model access unlimited?
No. Availability means a bot can be selected; it does not mean the plan will cover unlimited requests to it. The point cost and your remaining balance determine whether you can make a request. A costly model or media generation tool can use a substantial part of a small allocation, so inspect the displayed cost before relying on a bot for frequent work.

Free Poe or the $4.99 plan?
The free tier is a reasonable choice for occasional use, experimentation, and lightweight bots, especially if you are willing to wait for the daily reset. The paid tier is more relevant if you use Poe most days, want to try premium bots from several providers, or need more capacity without committing to a larger plan. Its value depends on how many points your normal tasks use, not simply on how many models appear in the catalog.
Before subscribing, check the cost of the specific bots you expect to use. If your routine involves long documents, repeated premium-model requests, or substantial video generation, the lowest tier may not provide enough practical capacity even though it lists broad model access.

Poe versus a direct AI subscription or API
Poe’s main advantage is breadth: one account can provide access to bots from several providers and modalities. That can suit someone who values variety or would otherwise pay for multiple services. Poe’s Help Center describes direct provider subscriptions as typically around $20 per month and focused on that provider’s service; that is Poe’s characterization, not an independent survey of every current plan. Poe’s purchase FAQ explains its comparison.
A direct subscription may be a better fit if you rely heavily on one provider’s native interface, integrations, memory, projects, or other features. It also avoids Poe’s intermediary point system. Poe is not automatically cheaper: compare the plan and limits you would actually use, rather than adding up model names.

Developers can also use Poe through an API launched in July 2025, with an OpenAI-compatible chat-completions interface. API requests draw on the Poe point ecosystem, so automation or frequent coding can consume the same usage pool and may require add-on points. Poe later announced transparent USD pricing and claimed prices for certain models were 10%–30% below comparable rates; that is Poe’s claim, not a guarantee of savings for every model or workload. Poe says its website may offer a wider selection of plans than Apple’s or Google’s app stores. If the cheapest tier is missing in the app, check Poe on the web. A U.S. App Store listing has shown different subscription options, illustrating why the amount displayed at checkout—not a rounded headline—is what matters. The U.S. App Store listing is platform-specific; it does not establish what every user will see.
- On the web: Sign in to Poe, select Get more points in the left sidebar, choose a plan, review its terms and price, and complete payment through Stripe. Manage the subscription in Poe’s Settings.
- On iOS: Sign in, open the hamburger menu, tap Subscribe, choose an available plan, and complete Apple’s subscription flow.
- On Android: Sign in, open the hamburger menu, tap Subscribe, choose an available plan, and complete Google Play’s subscription flow.
Subscriptions automatically renew. Cancel before the next billing date to avoid another charge. Web subscriptions are managed in Poe’s Settings and Stripe’s customer portal; subscriptions bought through an app store are generally managed through the relevant Apple or Google account. Fees are generally non-refundable except where Poe’s refund policy or applicable law provides otherwise. Check the purchase FAQ and terms of sale for the applicable details.
Who should consider the plan?
- Consider it if you want several providers in one interface, use Poe regularly but moderately, and are comfortable checking point costs and balances.
- Stay free if your use is occasional, your preferred bots are available at no cost, or you can wait for the free allowance to reset.
- Compare a direct subscription if one provider is central to your work and you need its native features or higher, provider-specific usage limits.
- Compare pay-as-you-go API options if your use is technical or irregular and you prefer usage-based billing, while accounting for setup and variable costs.
Before you commit, verify the price and plan shown in your region, whether the allowance is daily or monthly, rollover and add-on rules, the point cost of your preferred bots, and how to cancel through your chosen billing platform.
