Contemporaneous reporting by TechCrunch characterized the financing as a five-year loan and reported that Balasubramaniyan said it was earmarked for product development and hiring. Broader fraud detection and authentication
Pulse sits within Pindrop’s wider enterprise business, which the company describes as detecting fraudsters and authenticating legitimate customers, especially in voice interactions. The financing was presented as supporting that broader audio, voice and AI technology effort—not solely as a dedicated Pulse investment.
As an example of the synthetic-voice threat it addresses, Pindrop said it had identified the text-to-speech engine used in a robocall attack targeting New Hampshire voters during the Democratic primaries. That example is the company’s account of its work, rather than an independent evaluation of Pulse’s performance.

How to read Pindrop’s fraud figures
In connection with the financing announcement, Pindrop reported that it had analyzed 5.3 billion calls, prevented $2 billion in fraud losses and detected 104 million spoof calls. The same announcement said contact-center fraud had risen 60% over the preceding two years, estimated a $5 billion fraud risk for U.S. contact centers, and forecast that one in every 730 contact-center calls would be fraudulent by the end of 2024. Those were Pindrop’s statements and forecast in July 2024, not independently verified current measurements or confirmation of what ultimately occurred by year-end.
