There is no single public PFL rate per fight. Disclosed purses vary by fighter, event and contract. In the California State Athletic Commission figures reported for the June 2026 PFL San Diego card, A.J. McKee was listed at $100,000 guaranteed, while Liz Carmouche was listed at $50,000 to show plus a $50,000 win bonus. Those are event-specific disclosed figures—not a league-wide pay scale or a measure of total earnings.
What do PFL fighters make per fight?
The clearest answer is that publicly disclosed PFL purses differ widely, and the available figures do not establish a typical paycheck for the roster. A California commission-sourced salary list for the June 2026 San Diego event, reported by MMA Fighting, included show purses as low as $3,000 and larger guarantees for headline fighters.
For example, McKee’s listing was $100,000 guaranteed with no win bonus. Carmouche’s listing was $50,000 to show and $50,000 to win; after her reported win, those contract components amounted to $100,000. The list is a snapshot of that card, not evidence that either figure is a standard PFL rate.
How show purses, win bonuses and guarantees work
A reported purse can describe different contract terms, so the headline amount alone may not tell you what a fighter was certain to earn.

- Show purse: The amount contracted for appearing and competing. A fighter with a show purse can still receive that amount after a loss.
- Win bonus: An additional amount payable if the fighter wins. Carmouche’s San Diego listing separated $50,000 to show from $50,000 to win.
- Guaranteed purse: A disclosed amount not dependent on winning. McKee’s listed $100,000 guarantee had no win bonus.
When comparing two disclosed figures, check whether each is a show purse, a guaranteed amount, a win bonus or a total combining more than one component.
Why a disclosed purse may not equal total earnings
Commission-reported purses are useful for comparing disclosed bout compensation, but they are not necessarily a fighter’s complete income. MMA Fighting’s 2022 report on PFL Atlanta cautioned that its figures did not include sponsorship income or other bonuses. The selected public disclosures also do not establish a roster-wide mean or median, so averaging them would not produce a reliable estimate of what a PFL fighter typically earns.

In a May 25, 2023 interview with Al Jazeera, PFL CEO Donn Davis said the company had not disclosed what share of overall company revenue went to fighters. He described a 50-50 revenue split specifically for the pay-per-view division—not for the entire roster.

The 2022 Atlanta figures were high-profile historical purses, not representative standard rates. The commission lists also cover disclosed bout compensation, not every possible source of a fighter’s income.
Are PFL tournament prizes the same as pay per fight?
No. A tournament prize is a separate reward for winning a competition, not a guaranteed standard paycheck for each bout. PFL’s February 2024 announcement said each winner of the six divisions in that year’s Global Season would receive a $1 million purse. That figure describes the divisional winner’s tournament prize; it should not be presented as a per-fight rate.

PFL’s January 15, 2025 announcement described a single-elimination World Tournament across eight weight classes, with three consecutive wins needed to become champion. That announcement does not establish that the 2024 $1 million prize carried forward to the 2025 tournament or to 2026.

The 2025 PFL World Tournament rules specify a consequence for tournament bouts: if a fighter misses weight but is allowed to compete, that fighter must surrender 20% of their show purse to the opponent. Both fighters remain eligible for their full win purse based on the result. This term is stated for that tournament’s rules and should not be assumed to apply to every PFL bout or contract. See the 2025 PFL World Tournament Rules and Regulations, Version 1 effective March 1, 2025.

How to compare reported fighter pay
For a useful comparison, separate the guaranteed and conditional parts of the purse and keep the event details attached to the number.
Quick Recap
- Identify the source and date. Note which commission supplied the figures and which event they cover.
- Separate show pay from the win bonus. Do not treat a conditional bonus as guaranteed income.
- Check whether the amount is a bout purse or a tournament prize. A divisional championship payout is not the same as a paycheck for one appearance.
- Look for exclusions. A commission list may omit sponsorships, other bonuses or revenue-sharing arrangements.
- Avoid roster-wide conclusions from a few disclosed bouts. Selected individual purses do not establish a typical salary, mean or median.
