On February 3, 2026, David founder Peter Rahal announced that Peter Attia had stepped down as the protein-bar company’s Chief Science Officer. The same day, TechCrunch reported that Biograph, the longevity startup Attia co-founded, declined to comment on his ongoing participation. Neither account establishes that David fired Attia or confirms his current role at Biograph.
What happened at David Protein?
Rahal announced Attia’s departure in a statement reported by Reuters: “Dr. Peter Attia has stepped down from his role as Chief Science Officer at David. We remain focused on serving our customers.” TechCrunch and Reuters published their reports on February 3, 2026. The announcement describes a step-down; the reporting does not say Attia was fired or provide a separate explanation from David for the decision.
The reports placed the announcement after the release of records involving Jeffrey Epstein that included communications with Attia. TechCrunch reported that Attia said he was ashamed of some crude content in the emails and denied involvement in criminal activity. Reuters reported that Attia’s name appeared more than 1,700 times in a trove of 3 million emails. Those are counts of appearances and records, not proof that each appearance represents a substantive exchange or evidence of wrongdoing. What did Biograph say about Attia?
TechCrunch described Biograph as a health-testing and longevity startup co-founded by Attia and entrepreneur John Hering. The company declined to comment on Attia’s ongoing participation. TechCrunch also reported that pages that had previously mentioned him omitted his name or returned a “file not found” error. That establishes what the company and its website did at the time of the report; it does not confirm whether Attia holds a formal role at Biograph now.

Attia’s official biography identifies him as the founder of Early Medical and host of The Peter Attia Drive, but it does not resolve his Biograph status. His biography is not a confirmation of a current relationship with Biograph.
What is David Protein?
David sells physical protein bars. TechCrunch reported that its flagship bar launched in September 2024 and described the company’s product claims as 28 grams of protein, zero sugar, and 150 calories per bar. Those figures are the company’s description as relayed in the 2026 report, not an independent test or confirmation of the bar’s current formulation. TechCrunch also reported that David raised a $75 million Series A in May 2025, led by Greenoaks with participation from Valor Equity Partners; that is historical funding context, not a current valuation or funding status. Was Attia’s CBS News departure the same event?
No. CBS News reported on February 23, 2026, that Attia had left the network, a separate development from his February 3 departure from David. In coverage of the CBS exit, his spokesperson said: “Dr. Attia’s contributor role was newly established and had not yet meaningfully begun.” That statement concerns his contributor role at CBS, not his position at David or Biograph.
