Lotterywest reported that each member’s equal share was $2 million.
How the syndicate won
The group included 15 women and men, ranging in age from their 30s to their 60s. Its organizer had run the workplace syndicate for more than seven years. He usually bought a Saturday Lotto ticket each week, adding a Powerball ticket when jackpots reached $50 million or more, according to Lotterywest.
After forgetting the Saturday Lotto ticket, he noticed Powerball’s $30 million jackpot and bought a ticket on a whim. Lotterywest identified it as a System 10 ticket sold at Malaga Newsagency. The group’s members held equal shares.
“I couldn’t believe it when I realised I forgot to buy our ticket for Saturday Lotto. I was thinking of the grief I was going to get on Monday at work.”

The organizer’s explanation and the ticket details were reported by Lotterywest on 31 October 2024. The release says the ticket was sold the previous week, but does not give the draw number or exact draw date.
What each winner received
Lotterywest reported a $30 million Division One Powerball prize, divided equally among the 15 syndicate members at $2 million each. It described the win as Western Australia’s first Powerball win of 2024 and the state’s biggest Division One prize since April 2023. Those are Lotterywest’s claims in its 31 October 2024 release, not a current ranking.

The organizer said the syndicate members contributed to a shared kitty and that he had never expected to win. He also remarked that he was happy to play knowing some of the money helped the community. Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said welcoming the 15 winners to its Winners Room was “incredible” and called the win life-changing for the workmates.
Lotterywest also said the three-week Powerball jackpot run raised $5.9 million for its grants program. That amount and the descriptions of the win are attributed to the agency’s account.
