PepsiCo’s Oct. 8, 2026 Earnings Report: What Could Pressure the Stock

PepsiCo’s Oct. 8 report could pressure shares if demand, margins or full-year guidance disappoint. Here’s what investors should check against estimates and company outlook.

PepsiCo’s third-quarter results are scheduled for before the market opens on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026. The report could weigh on shares if demand remains weak, costs squeeze margins, or management lowers its full-year outlook—but a sharp drop is a risk scenario, not a prediction. As of Oct. 7, the results had not been released.

When does PepsiCo report earnings?

PepsiCo said on Aug. 25 that it would publish its third-quarter 2026 results on Oct. 8. The quarter ended Sept. 5. The company scheduled its Form 10-Q, earnings release and prepared management remarks for approximately 6:00 a.m. EDT, followed by an analyst question-and-answer session with CEO Ramon Laguarta and CFO Steve Schmitt at 8:15 a.m. EDT.

Why could the report pressure PepsiCo shares?

The downside case is that the results or management’s comments reveal weaker business conditions than investors expected. PepsiCo’s disclosed risk categories include changes in product demand, competitive pressure, input costs, supply-chain and manufacturing disruptions, changing customer and retail conditions, foreign exchange, geopolitical conditions, taxes and regulation, and execution of productivity or restructuring initiatives. These are risks the company identifies, not forecasts that any one of them will occur.

Weak volume or poor-quality growth

Organic revenue growth can come from a combination of sales volume and effective net pricing, including mix. If revenue growth relies heavily on higher prices while volumes weaken, investors may question whether demand is durable or whether pricing is limiting future sales. The release’s organic revenue and volume figures—and management’s explanation of pricing and mix—will help distinguish those possibilities.

Pressure on North American food and beverage businesses

Kiplinger’s Oct. 2 earnings preview said PepsiCo Foods North America and PepsiCo Beverages North America had continued to struggle to achieve sustained improvement in consumption, organic growth, share or operating leverage. That is the preview’s assessment, not an official company admission. Investors can look for the report and call to clarify how those businesses are performing, including consumption, market share and segment operating margins.

Costs outpacing savings

Productivity actions can support profit, but their benefit may be offset by input costs, advertising and other expenses. A weaker core operating-profit or margin result could therefore matter even if sales meet an estimate. Listen for whether management separates savings from the costs and other offsets affecting margins, and whether it quantifies the impact of commodities, foreign exchange or other pressures.

A lower full-year outlook or cautious commentary

PepsiCo’s latest available full-year outlook, given in its Q1 2026 management remarks, called for organic revenue growth of 2%–4% and core constant-currency EPS growth of 4%–6%. Management also projected a core annual effective tax rate of about 22%, capital spending below 5% of net revenue, and free-cash-flow conversion of at least 80%. The company said its outlook assumed mitigation of cost pressures and described the macro environment as more volatile and uncertain amid geopolitical conflicts. A reduction to the growth ranges, or commentary that makes them appear harder to achieve, could unsettle investors.

What were analysts expecting?

Kiplinger’s Oct. 2 preview reported analyst consensus estimates of $2.30 in EPS and $24.98 billion in revenue for the quarter. It also compared the expected EPS with $2.29 a year earlier. These are estimates reported by a secondary source, not PepsiCo guidance or actual results; the estimate provider and timestamp were not specified in the available report.

Keep the comparisons distinct when assessing the release:

  • Quarterly consensus: Compare actual results with the reported analyst estimates, while recognizing that the cited preview does not identify the estimate provider or timestamp.
  • Prior-year quarter: Compare with the corresponding year-ago performance using figures in the release. The $2.29 figure in Kiplinger’s preview is a prior-year EPS comparison attached to its estimate discussion, not a forecast from PepsiCo.
  • Full-year company outlook: Assess whether the results and management’s updated comments support the 2026 guidance ranges. Quarterly estimates and full-year guidance answer different questions.

Also separate organic revenue from reported revenue, and core constant-currency EPS from GAAP EPS. A beat on one quarterly estimate does not by itself establish that underlying growth, margins or the annual outlook are healthy; likewise, a miss on a single consensus line does not prove that the outlook has deteriorated.

What should investors watch in the release and call?

  1. Underlying sales: Check organic revenue, volume and effective net pricing, then note how management explains their relationship.
  2. North American performance: Look for consumption, market-share and segment-margin details for food and beverages, rather than relying on consolidated sales alone.
  3. Profitability: Review core operating profit and margins, with attention to how productivity savings compare with input costs, advertising and other offsets.
  4. Guidance: See whether the 2026 organic revenue growth range of 2%–4% and core constant-currency EPS growth range of 4%–6% remain in place, and how management characterizes the rest of the year.
  5. External pressures and execution: Note any quantified impact from input costs, foreign exchange, taxes or geopolitical conditions, as well as explanations of cost actions, execution risks and conditions in major customer or retail channels.

Does a disappointing report mean the stock will plunge?

No. The scheduled report creates a catalyst, but neither the company’s risk disclosures nor the estimates cited in the Oct. 2 preview establish that a plunge is likely. The share-price reaction will depend on how results compare with expectations and how investors interpret management’s forward commentary. Results can also be mixed: a consensus beat may coexist with weak volume or cautious guidance, while a miss on one line need not mean the broader outlook has worsened.
