What happened to Project Gemini and Project Bifrost?
People Can Fly’s June 1, 2025 announcement described both projects as suspended, rather than using the formal wording that they had been canceled. The available June 2025 sources establish the announcement and its reasons, but do not establish whether either project was later revived, formally terminated, or otherwise changed status.

| Project | Project model | Reason People Can Fly gave for suspending development |
|---|---|---|
| Project Gemini | Published by Square Enix, according to Game Developer. | CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski said the publisher had not provided a draft of the next content rider covering terms for further milestones, and had not communicated whether it would continue or terminate the project. The explanation appears in Gematsu’s reproduction of his message. |
| Project Bifrost | Reported as a self-published VR game by Game Developer. | Wojciechowski said the Gemini situation and a cash-flow analysis showed insufficient prospects for securing the resources and funds needed to continue production and release, as reproduced by Gematsu. |
How many employees were affected?
Game Developer reported that 60 people were made redundant amid the uncertainty surrounding Gemini, citing a separate People Can Fly current report. The CEO’s announcement, as reproduced by Gematsu, said the studio needed to regroup and scale down teams but did not state how many people that broader effort would affect. The reported 60 should therefore not be treated as a confirmed total for every staffing impact connected with the announcement.
Game Developer also reported that People Can Fly laid off 120 workers in December 2024. That was a separate earlier event, not part of the June 2025 figure, and the two numbers should not be combined into a single round of layoffs.

What did the CEO say about the decision?
Wojciechowski said: “As a result, we have to significantly regroup as a studio and scale down our teams, which hurts the most.” He also expressed regret over how events had unfolded and gratitude for the contributions of those involved. Both statements were reproduced in Gematsu’s coverage.
What was People Can Fly working on at the time?
Contemporaneous coverage also said the studio was working with The Coalition on Gears of War: E-Day and with Sony Interactive Entertainment on Project Delta. Those were projects reported as active in June 2025; the cited coverage does not establish their status in October 2026.
