People Can Fly suspended development of Project Gemini and Project Bifrost on June 1, 2025, and CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski said the studio would scale down its teams. The company did not disclose how many employees would be affected, so a specific layoff total cannot be confirmed.
What happened to Project Gemini and Project Bifrost?
In a June 1, 2025 statement, People Can Fly said it had suspended development of both projects. The studio described a plan to regroup and reduce team size, but the announcement did not quantify the workforce impact. Gematsu reproduced the CEO’s statement; Hitmarker also reported that the number of affected workers was undisclosed.

Why was Project Gemini suspended?
People Can Fly said Gemini’s publisher had not provided a draft of a subsequent content rider covering future milestones. The publisher also had not told the studio whether it intended to continue or terminate the project, according to Wojciechowski’s statement quoted by Gematsu.
The CEO did not name the publisher in that explanation. Gematsu’s contemporaneous coverage identified Gemini as a Square Enix-published project; that identification is reporting context, not a name supplied in the CEO’s statement.

Why was Project Bifrost suspended?
The company gave a separate reason for Bifrost. Wojciechowski said the studio’s cash-flow analysis showed no prospects for obtaining the resources and funds needed to continue production and release. Gematsu’s account of the statement describes Bifrost as a self-published virtual-reality game.
How many people were laid off?
People Can Fly did not announce a number of employees affected. Wojciechowski said the studio would “significantly regroup” and “scale down our teams,” but that wording does not establish a specific headcount. The announcement and Hitmarker’s June 2025 coverage do not provide a confirmed total.

What else was People Can Fly working on at the time?
Gematsu reported in June 2025 that the studio was also working on Gears of War: E-Day with The Coalition and Project Delta with Sony Interactive Entertainment. This is a snapshot of the reported slate at the time of the announcement, not confirmation of either project’s present-day status.
