Peec AI announced a $21 million Series A on November 18, 2025, to help companies measure how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and other AI systems describe and recommend them. The financing reflects a real marketing shift, but the “consumers are ditching Google” premise goes further than the available evidence: ChatGPT use is rising rapidly, while broad abandonment of Google has not been established.
What Peec AI raised and who invested
Peec said Singular led the Series A, with participation from Antler, Combination VC, identity.vc and S20. The company said the round took total funding to $29 million, following a seed round led by 20VC in July 2025.
TechCrunch reported that CEO Marius Meiners said Peec’s valuation had tripled and exceeded $100 million. That is a statement attributed to the CEO, not an independently verified valuation.
Peec is based in Berlin and was founded by Meiners (CEO), Tobias Siwonia (CTO) and Daniel Drabo (CRO). The company told TechCrunch it planned to hire about 40 people over six months, continue expanding in Berlin and open a New York sales office in the second quarter of 2026.

Peec’s financing announcement described the round as the largest Series A in AI search, a characterization that should be understood as the company’s own claim.
What Peec actually sells
Peec is not a consumer search engine. It is a marketing-intelligence platform that monitors how brands appear in generated answers.
A marketer might enter prompts such as “best CRM for a fast-growing company.” Peec runs a selected prompt set across supported AI systems and records whether the brand appears, where it appears, how it is described and which sources are cited. Teams can then use those observations to guide content, public-relations, community and reputation work.
According to Peec’s agency product page, its tracked channels include ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. Reported metrics include:
- brand mention rate;
- average position in an answer;
- citations and cited domains;
- sentiment;
- competitor visibility; and
- the sources that appear to influence answers.
The platform also offers recurring monitoring and recommendations intended to improve visibility and sentiment. It monitors the underlying systems; it does not control their answers.
Why AI answers create a new marketing problem
Conventional search usually presents links, advertisements, snippets and competing results. An AI interface may instead synthesize an answer, recommend a short list of vendors and provide a conversational follow-up. That can reduce the number of sites a user visits before forming an opinion.
The marketing questions therefore expand beyond “What is our keyword ranking?” A company may need to know:
- Is the brand mentioned for the relevant use case?
- Which competitors are named instead?
- Which independent sources shape the answer?
- Is the description accurate and favorable?
- Does visibility persist across models, prompts, locations and dates?
- Do AI-originated visits produce qualified leads or revenue?
Peec’s value proposition is measurement during a period when those answers are difficult to obtain from ordinary rank trackers.
Are consumers really abandoning Google?
The strongest evidence supports expanding ChatGPT adoption, not a clean Google-to-ChatGPT migration.
A Pew Research Center survey conducted in February and March 2025 found that 34% of U.S. adults had used ChatGPT, including 58% of adults under 30. The share was roughly twice the level measured in 2023. The survey measured whether people had used ChatGPT and what they used it for; it did not measure whether they had stopped using Google. See Pew’s findings.
An OpenAI and Harvard analysis of 1.5 million consumer conversations found that practical guidance, information-seeking and writing were dominant uses. That supports ChatGPT’s role as an information-discovery interface, but it does not prove one-for-one substitution for Google Search. The study is summarized by OpenAI.
The more defensible conclusion is that discovery is becoming hybrid. In some research and product-comparison journeys, an AI assistant may substitute for a conventional search results page. Many users will still use Google, marketplaces, social networks, app stores, review sites or direct brand searches for other tasks.

GEO is an emerging discipline, not a guaranteed ranking formula
“Generative engine optimization” (GEO), along with overlapping terms such as AEO, LLMO and AI-search optimization, describes efforts to increase the chance that an AI system represents a brand accurately and favorably.
Typical work can include:
- publishing authoritative, factually consistent information;
- making products, pricing and company details easy to interpret;
- earning mentions and citations from credible third-party sites;
- keeping entity information consistent across the web;
- answering specific user-intent questions clearly;
- building reputation through reviews, forums, trade publications and communities;
- monitoring model responses and correcting outdated claims; and
- connecting visibility changes to traffic, leads and sales.
There is no universal GEO ranking formula. Results vary with the model, query wording, geography, language, account, retrieval mode, recency, personalization, conversation context and model updates. Advice that works for one system may fail on another. GEO is best treated as an emerging measurement and experimentation discipline, not a mature replacement for SEO.
How Peec differs from conventional SEO tools
Traditional SEO platforms focus on keywords, crawlability, backlinks and positions in search-engine results. Peec’s reported workflow starts with prompts and generated answers: what the system said, which brand it selected and which sources it used.
TechCrunch reported these historical Peec prices in November 2025:

Peec’s reported traction—and what it does not prove
TechCrunch reported that Peec launched in February 2025, had more than $4 million in annual recurring revenue within 10 months, onboarded 1,300 companies and agencies, and was adding about 300 customers per month. These are company-reported or press-reported figures, not audited financial statements.

Peec’s pricing page now claims “3,000+ brands and agencies.” The page does not state a methodology or comparable date, so it should be treated as a current marketing claim rather than a directly comparable continuation of the November 2025 figure.
None of these numbers establishes profitability, retention, net revenue retention or customer return on investment.

Why investors may see a large opportunity
Search and product discovery are enormous markets. If AI interfaces become a meaningful route to vendor selection, brands will need visibility into answers they cannot inspect through a conventional rank tracker.
Peec can sell recurring monitoring to in-house marketing teams and agencies. Its agency offering emphasizes unlimited client seats, multi-channel tracking, exports, API access and reporting workflows. Frequent changes to AI products could create continuing demand for measurement.
The counterargument is equally important: the category may be early and crowded, and visibility may be difficult to monetize if being mentioned does not produce measurable traffic, leads or sales.

Prompt sampling
A small or poorly designed prompt set can make a brand look more or less visible than it is across real customer journeys.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsVariable answers
The same prompt can produce different answers across runs. A single visibility score can hide that variability.
Model changes
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI features can alter retrieval and ranking behavior without notice. Historical comparisons need a record of model, mode, date and location.
Mentions are not citations
A model may name a brand without linking to it, cite a review instead of the company’s site, or attach a source that only partly supports the claim. Peec distinguishes mentions and citations in its agency materials, particularly for Perplexity.
Visibility is not revenue
A serious measurement program should separate visibility, mentions, citations, referral visits, assisted conversions, direct conversions and incremental revenue. An increase in any early-stage metric is not proof of commercial success.

Results can differ by country, language, device, account and browsing mode. Any benchmark should state those boundaries.
Competitive landscape and lower-cost options
TechCrunch identified Profound and OtterlyAI as competitors. Established suites such as Ahrefs and Semrush remain stronger choices when conventional SEO, backlinks, content research or broader marketing intelligence is the primary need; buyers should verify the current depth of each platform’s AI-answer tracking.
A company can also test a fixed prompt set manually across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI interfaces, recording mentions, competitors, citations, sentiment, source domains, model and date in a spreadsheet. This reduces software cost but creates consistency and reproducibility problems.
When Peec is—and is not—a sensible purchase
Potentially good fit
- high-consideration products discovered through comparisons;
- brands already receiving identifiable AI referrals;
- agencies managing many clients;
- teams able to act on content, PR or reputation findings; and
- organizations that can connect visibility to analytics and revenue.
Potentially poor fit
- small businesses with little existing brand or content footprint;
- teams expecting guaranteed inclusion or rankings;
- buyers who only need Google keyword tracking;
- companies unable to measure downstream conversions; and
- businesses whose discovery happens mainly through marketplaces, app stores, social platforms or offline channels.
Questions to ask before signing up
- Which models, modes, countries and languages are included?
- How often are prompts run, and can results be audited?
- Are samples taken from one account, several accounts or multiple locations?
- How does the vendor normalize changing answers?
- Can the system distinguish brand mentions from domain citations?
- Can competitors, share of voice and source domains be tracked?
- Are CSV export and API access included?
- Can AI referrals be connected to analytics and conversions?
- What are the prompt, user, client and model limits?
- What happens when an AI provider changes its interface or retrieval behavior?
The standard that will decide whether this category lasts
AI-search monitoring becomes a durable marketing category only if vendors and customers can show more than a higher visibility score. They will need evidence that improved representation leads to more qualified visits, consideration, signups, sales, better factual accuracy or lower acquisition costs.

For now, Peec is making a credible bet on an important uncertainty. ChatGPT usage is growing and AI systems are becoming part of discovery, but Google has not been proven obsolete. Peec’s $21 million round funds the effort to measure that transition; it does not settle whether AI visibility will become as valuable or as measurable as conventional search traffic.
