What the 2024 Rich List actually said
The headline milestone came from an annual ranking, rather than a financial disclosure by McCartney. The list’s £1 billion estimate covered McCartney and Shevell together. The Associated Press reported that the newspaper attributed £50 million of the couple’s wealth to Shevell.

What reportedly drove the increase
The 2024 list connected the increase in its estimate to McCartney’s 2023 Got Back Tour, a rise in the value of his back catalogue, and Beyoncé’s cover of the Beatles’ “Blackbird” on Cowboy Carter. These are the list’s reported explanations; the available reporting does not assign an audited amount to any one factor.
Another piece of Beatles-related context was “Now and Then,” released in November 2023. The Associated Press reported that it topped charts in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries. The available account does not establish it as a separately quantified cause of the Rich List estimate.

Why the claim needs a date and a qualification
Rich List figures are annual estimates, not a live account balance. The later 2025 estimate and ranking show that the assessment can change from one edition to the next; the 2024 milestone should therefore be described as the list’s finding for that year, not as a current, independently verified valuation.
The reporting available here does not provide an asset-by-asset calculation or establish the full methodology behind the estimate. It supports a claim about the combined wealth attributed to McCartney and Shevell by the Rich List, but not a precise total for McCartney alone. Nor does it show that the couple held the estimated amount in cash.
