What the 2025 announcement covered
Travel + Leisure reported on January 31, 2025 that the Department of State had added special passport fair dates across the country. The added schedule included dates in January, dozens of February dates as described in the report, and two dates in March 2025. The events were in-person passport acceptance events, meaning people could submit their passport application face to face at a fair rather than through a standard route.
The reporting did not reproduce the full list of dates or places, so the 2025 schedule cannot be reconstructed from that article alone. If you are looking for a specific event from that period, it is no longer a bookable option.
Who the fairs were for
According to the same report, the fairs were aimed at travelers who had to apply in person. Two groups were named as eligible to attend:

Those eligibility groups describe who the events were designed to serve. They do not tell you whether your own application must be made in person; that depends on your circumstances and the rules in force when you apply.
Why appointment rules varied
The report stated that appointment requirements differed by location. Some sites required an appointment, while others accepted walk-ins. That means a single passport fair date did not guarantee the same experience everywhere, and a plan that works at one venue may fail at another.

The report also described libraries, community centers, and other civic buildings as common venues in general. It did not provide a verified venue-by-venue list for the added dates, so do not assume a given type of building hosted a fair on a given day.
How to find current in-person passport options
Because the 2025 dates are closed, start with the official source and work outward. Use this order:

- Open the Department of State’s official passport information site and look for its current passport fair or in-person event schedule. Do not rely on third-party copies of older lists.
- For each event, record the date, the venue address, and whether the event requires an appointment or accepts walk-ins.
- Confirm that the event is open to your situation. The 2025 reporting named children under 16 and first-time adult applicants; check the current listing for its own eligibility rules.
- If an appointment is required, book it before you travel. If walk-ins are accepted, plan to arrive early, since turnout is not guaranteed to be light.
- Bring the documents listed on the current event or official passport page. This article does not list documents, because the source did not establish a current checklist.
Questions to answer before you go
For any event you consider, a short checklist keeps the trip from being wasted:
- Is the date still scheduled, and has it been changed or cancelled?
- Is the location reachable, and what does the round trip cost in time and transportation?
- Does the event require an appointment, or does it accept walk-ins?
- Does your eligibility match the event listing?
- If you need the passport for travel, does your planned departure leave enough time after the application is processed? Check current processing estimates on the official site rather than relying on older figures.
What this article does not establish
The 2025 reporting does not establish current fees, current processing times, a current document checklist, or the current policy on who must apply in person. It also does not confirm the full list of 2025 venues or appointment links. Those details change over time, so the official Department of State passport information is the only dependable place to check them.
