What changed in the Paramount+ price hike?
Paramount Global said in its Q3 2025 earnings call that it planned U.S. price increases early in the first quarter of 2026. Tom’s Guide reported that the increase took effect January 15, 2026, adding $1 per month to each tier. Current U.S. signup prices are $8.99 per month for Essential and $13.99 per month for Premium. Does annual billing save money?
Current reporting lists annual prices of $89.99 for Essential and $139.99 for Premium. Compared with twelve regular monthly payments at the prices above, those amounts would save $17.89 and $28.89, respectively, before taxes or other offer effects. Annual billing requires paying upfront for a year. It may cost more overall than monthly billing if you expect to cancel before the year is over, and a promotion can change the amount or renewal terms. Compare the annual total with the number of months you realistically expect to watch, not just the advertised discount. Can Walmart+ include Paramount+?
An active Walmart+ member can choose Paramount+ Essential with ads at no additional charge within the membership, instead of Peacock Premium with ads. The choice can be switched every 90 days. Walmart also lists Paramount+ Premium as a paid upgrade for $5 per month or $50 per year, plus tax. Check Walmart+’s current benefit terms before relying on those options.

This is a benefit attached to Walmart+, not a standalone free Paramount+ subscription. Compare the membership fee with what you would otherwise pay for Paramount+ and the value of Walmart+’s other benefits. If you already pay for Paramount+ separately, that subscription must expire before you activate the Walmart+ streaming benefit.
How to avoid paying more at renewal
- Check who bills you. Review your Paramount+ account or the subscription section of the third-party service that charges you. Note the plan, price, and renewal date.
- Compare the available plan or offer. If you are billed directly, review the choices in your Paramount+ account. If a third party bills you, use that provider’s account tools and terms; Paramount says third-party billing can control plan changes and cancellation.
- Make changes before renewal. Paramount’s U.S. Terms of Use say an applicable price change takes effect on renewal after notice, not during the current billing period. Direct subscribers can manage account details through Paramount; a third-party subscriber generally needs to make changes through the billing provider. A direct downgrade begins at the end of the current billing period, while an upgrade may begin immediately and be prorated. See Paramount’s U.S. Terms of Use.
- Confirm the result. Check the updated plan, next charge, and renewal date after changing or canceling. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and amounts already paid are generally not refunded, subject to the terms and applicable law.
What to check before accepting a promotion
Promotional discounts depend on the offer and eligibility. Some may not combine with trials or other offers; a discounted period can end with automatic renewal at the then-current regular price. Paramount’s terms also limit repeated use of new-customer promotions. No universal current promo code is established here, so judge an offer by its displayed price, duration, renewal amount, and cancellation terms rather than assuming a code will work.
