Pakistan’s latest reported fuel-price revision was mixed, not a massive increase: petrol rose by Rs1.82 to Rs396.65 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) fell by Rs0.91 to Rs394.94. Radio Pakistan reported the rates on October 7 and said they take effect Thursday, October 8, 2026.
What are the new petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan?
Radio Pakistan reported the revised prices on October 7, citing a Petroleum Division press release. The reported rates apply from Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Radio Pakistan’s October 7 report gives these two prices and per-litre changes. The Petroleum Division’s Latest News page listed a notice titled “Prices of Petroleum Products on 8th October, 2026,” but the detailed notice was not available in the retrieved page. The figures here are therefore attributed to Radio Pakistan, not presented as a complete official schedule.
Did petrol and diesel prices both increase massively?
No. In the October 8 revision, petrol had a small increase and HSD had a small decrease. The headline claim that both fuels increased massively does not describe this update.

There was a separate, much larger increase in April 2026. The Associated Press reported that petrol rose by Rs137 per litre and diesel by Rs184.49 per litre in that episode. Those April figures are historical context, not the changes announced on October 7 for October 8. AP quoted Petroleum Minister Pervez Malik describing the April increase as “unavoidable.” AP’s April report covers that separate event.
How do the October 8 prices compare with October 1?
APP reported that on October 1 petrol was Rs387.40 per litre after a Rs0.14 cut, and HSD was Rs400.35 after a Rs1.89 cut. The October 8 rates are later figures, but intervening revisions occurred. Comparing the October 1 and October 8 prices as if they were the result of one uninterrupted adjustment would therefore be misleading.

For the October 1 adjustment specifically, APP said the Petroleum Division cited international-market developments, including Platts rates, premiums and related costs, and that the revised prices were based on OGRA-determined ex-depot prices. That explanation applies to the October 1 adjustment; the available October 7 report does not establish the precise reasons for the October 8 changes. Fuel costs can affect transport and the cost of moving goods, but the available reporting does not quantify how the October 8 adjustment changed fares or food prices. Since petrol increased slightly while HSD decreased slightly, the update should not be described as a broad, across-the-board fuel-price surge.

The Associated Press reported on October 6 that more than 9 million low-income people were benefiting from a targeted fuel-subsidy program. AP described support of Rs500 weekly for motorcycle and three-wheeler users, with up to four tokens per month (a maximum of Rs2,000 monthly), and Rs100 per litre for eligible cars up to 800 cc on up to 10 litres every 10 days, with up to three tokens per month (a maximum of Rs3,000). AP said tokens were delivered by text message and eligibility was checked at participating fuel stations. These are reported program details, not verified current enrollment instructions; check current official guidance before relying on eligibility, availability or redemption steps.
