The figures differ by date and, for some schemes, by source. The Finance Division’s Pakistan Economic Survey 2025–26 records the January 23 rates, while contemporary news reports give additional figures and conflicts that should not be silently combined.
January 2026 CDNS rate changes at a glance
These are historical rate snapshots, not a single rate that applied throughout January. The January 5 figures below come from news reports; the January 23 figures include an official Finance Division table and a separate Business Recorder report.

Where the reports disagree
January 5: SSC and SSA
ProPakistani reported 11% for SSC/SSA, while Business Recorder reported 10.20% for SSC, citing Arif Habib Limited data. The available figures do not establish which value applies across both categories, so treat them as source-specific rather than choosing one as definitive.
January 23: RIC and SSC
The Finance Division’s survey table lists RIC at 9.36% and SSC/SSA at a 9.57% average. Business Recorder’s January 24 report lists RIC at 9.96% and SSC at 10.20%. The survey groups SSC and SSA as an average, whereas the news report gives SSC separately; the RIC figures also conflict directly. Keep the source attribution attached to either figure.

What the figures mean for choosing a scheme
A headline profit rate is only one part of the comparison. CDNS products differ in payout timing, term, access to principal, eligibility, and tax treatment. Those details affect whether a scheme suits a particular saver and whether its quoted rate matches the saver’s needs.
Regular Income Certificates
The official RIC product page states a five-year maturity and monthly profit payments. It also sets out early encashment charges by year, so an investor who may need the principal before maturity should check those terms rather than treating the published rate as freely available regardless of holding period. See CDNS Regular Income Certificates details.

Check the specific product terms
- Compare the rate’s effective date with the date you intend to invest; January’s two revisions were separate snapshots.
- Check each product’s payout schedule and maturity rather than assuming RIC’s monthly payout or five-year term applies to other schemes.
- Confirm early withdrawal rules, eligibility, and tax treatment on the official page for the particular scheme and investor category.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the live rate page does not show January’s rates
The official National Savings latest profit rates page is a live page rather than a January archive. As accessed on October 8, 2026, its summary reflected rates effective October 1, 2026. It can show that rates have since moved on, but it should not be used as evidence for the January 2026 figures.
