The money was not an equity round, and the West Coast U.S. and Asia-Pacific sites discussed at the time were possibilities under consideration—not confirmed construction projects.
How was the $327 million structured?
Data Center Knowledge reported that OVH’s financing combined two forms of debt. Its December 2014 account is the source for the amounts and terms below; the reviewed material does not include a primary financing filing or lender document independently confirming them.
| Instrument | Reported amount | Reported maturity | Stated role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revolving credit facility | $196 million | Six years | Part of the debt financing for OVH’s infrastructure investment program |
| Euro PP bonds | $131 million | Six, seven, and eight years | Part of the debt financing for OVH’s infrastructure investment program |
The two reported amounts add up to $327 million. OVH’s CFO, Nicolas Boyer, said the financing would diversify the company’s funding sources and extend its average debt maturity to support the next three years of development. Data Center Knowledge reported the financing and Boyer’s comments on December 10, 2014.
What was the money meant to fund?
OVH said the debt would help fund an investment program of more than $490 million. The company planned to self-fund the portion not covered by the reported $327 million financing. The stated aims were to expand data-center and network infrastructure, support cloud customers, and enter new markets.

The financing fit a capital-intensive operating model. Data Center Knowledge described OVH as building its own facilities and custom servers, including water-cooled systems. In the same article, Structure Research managing director Philbert Shih characterized OVH’s approach as building “from the data center and infrastructure down to servers and components,” and said its specific design required substantial capital.
Which locations were under consideration in 2014?
The 2014 report said OVH was actively considering a U.S. West Coast presence and expansion in Asia Pacific. An OVH spokesperson cautioned that it was too early to communicate the long-term strategy for the new capital. The locations were therefore possibilities, not announced construction projects with confirmed sites or schedules.

What happened to OVH’s data-center footprint later?
Later figures show that OVHcloud expanded, but they do not establish that the 2014 financing alone caused that growth. The dates and source of each figure matter:
- 2024: OVHcloud said it had opened more than 12 data centers in the preceding three years and expected to reach 45 by the end of 2024. It also described a strategy of raising utilization at existing sites and opening new locations with lower capital intensity. The 45-site figure was a target, not a completed count. These statements appeared in the company’s January 2024 strategic-plan release.
- 2025: OVHcloud announced its first Italian data center, in the Milan region. The company said it had invested €1 billion in products and infrastructure since its 2021 IPO and opened ten additional data centers since 2021. These are company-reported figures. The announcement was published in May 2025.
- 2026: In a U.S. history, OVHcloud said it had secured approximately $181 million in 2013 to support U.S. data-center construction, formed OVH US LLC in 2016, and later established facilities in Vint Hill, Virginia, and Hillsboro, Oregon. It reported growth from 20 data centers in 2016 to 46 in 2026. The 2013 financing was a separate transaction from the $327 million reported in 2014. These details appear in the company’s 2026 U.S. history.
What does OVHcloud report about its footprint now?
As of October 4, 2026, OVHcloud’s locations page reported 46 data centers in nine countries and plans for seven more sites across Canada, Germany, Australia, Singapore, and France. The company page also describes restricted badge access, 24/7 video surveillance, redundant power, generators, and water cooling. These are current company webpage claims; locations and plans can change. See OVHcloud’s locations and infrastructure page.
