OSSSC’s 2024 teacher recruitment covered 2,629 district-cadre posts across eight teaching categories. April 1 was the registration start date in the commission’s original March notice, but OSSSC later revised the schedule: registration ran from September 10 to October 5, 2024, and application submission ran from September 10 to October 10. The application period is closed. The commission’s results index now lists provisional result notices for the covered posts in 2026.
What the OSSSC Teacher notification covered
In a short advertisement dated March 11, 2024, the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) invited applications for 2,629 district-cadre teacher posts in government schools under the ST & SC Development, M & BCW Department.
The listed post categories were:
- Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), Arts
- TGT, Science (PCM)
- TGT, Science (CBZ)
- Sanskrit Teacher
- Hindi Teacher
- Physical Education Teacher (PET)
- Tribal Language Teacher
- Sevak/Sevika (Primary Teacher)
The initial notice said, “Applications will be received through online mode only.” (OSSSC short advertisement.)
Why April 1 is not the operative application date
The original short notice, dated March 11, 2024, set registration or re-registration for April 1–25 and online application submission for April 1–30. OSSSC subsequently issued a revised schedule in its August 31, 2024 short advertisement. Under that later schedule, registration or re-registration ran from September 10 to October 5, while online application submission ran from September 10 to October 10. Those windows have closed. (Original notice; revised notice.)

Registration by itself did not submit an application. The OSSSC detailed advertisement states: “Mere Registration/Re-registration does not mean filing of online application. Online Application shall be filed mandatorily after completing the Registration/Re-registration.” (OSSSC detailed advertisement.)
District-cadre preferences and posting
The detailed advertisement instructed applicants to rank their post and district preferences and said those choices would be final. It described posting and transfers as taking place within the selected district. Applicants therefore needed to consider both the post and district before submitting their preferences. Where to verify eligibility and selection details
Requirements differ by post. For candidate-specific decisions, consult the full 26-page OSSSC detailed advertisement and subsequent official notices for the exact education and subject requirements, age limits, pay scales, district vacancies and reservation, and selection stages. These details should not be inferred from another recruitment or from general teacher-recruitment rules. The detailed advertisement is the controlling source for the post-specific terms.
