OPPO Expands in Brazil With Local Manufacturing Through Multi in Manaus

OPPO is expanding in Brazil and manufacturing products through Multi in Manaus, but public information does not establish a new OPPO-owned factory or which models are made locally.

OPPO is expanding its Brazilian business and manufacturing products locally through a partnership with Brazilian electronics maker Multi in the Manaus Free Trade Zone. That is different from announcing a new OPPO-owned factory: available public information does not establish that OPPO owns or directly operates a plant in Brazil.

OPPO’s Brazil expansion: the key dates

  • November 2024: OPPO announced a broader Brazil plan spanning smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, official sales channels and a two-year warranty for products bought through official Brazilian points of sale. Read OPPO’s announcement.
  • March 17, 2026: The company opened its first physical Brazilian retail location at Shopping Castanheira in Belém, Pará, and said it planned two more locations that year. See the store announcement.
  • May 20, 2026: A Suframa visit highlighted OPPO’s manufacturing partnership with Multi in Manaus and its plans to invest in marketing, research and development, innovation, and local labor. A sector report said OPPO aims to make Brazil one of its five most important global markets. Read the report; Suframa’s search index also records the visit and partnership.
  • August 4, 2026: OPPO announced the Reno16 and Reno16 F for Brazil, another sign of its ongoing product expansion. See the Reno16 announcement.

What “local manufacturing” means in this case

Multi is the identified manufacturing partner

The available reporting describes OPPO products as being manufactured in partnership with Multi in Manaus. In a partner-manufacturing arrangement, the brand and industrial partner share production responsibilities; it does not mean the brand owns the factory. The sources support describing this as local partner manufacturing, but do not establish the precise division of work.

Local production does not prove local components

The public information does not say whether production includes full-device assembly from imported parts, circuit-board work, component integration, software installation, testing, packaging, or a mixture that varies by model. It also does not disclose the share of Brazilian-made components. “Made in Brazil” should therefore not be read as proof that a phone’s main parts are domestically sourced.

Nor does the Multi partnership establish that every OPPO model sold in Brazil is made there. OPPO lists a broad Brazilian portfolio, but the available sources do not map individual models to factories. Check OPPO’s Brazil portfolio.

Why Manaus matters

The Zona Franca de Manaus is an established electronics-manufacturing hub operating under Brazil’s Free Trade Zone framework. Suframa says production there primarily serves the Brazilian market, with some exports to Latin America, Europe and the United States. The agency reported R$227.67 billion in Zona Franca revenue for 2025 and more than 500,000 direct and indirect jobs across the zone; those figures describe the zone as a whole, not OPPO or Multi’s OPPO-related operation. See Suframa’s overview.

For OPPO, using an established local manufacturing partner may support domestic distribution and participation in Brazil’s industrial framework. A Brazilian base could also be useful for regional business. Those are strategic possibilities, not disclosed calculations or confirmed export plans from OPPO.

Which OPPO products are confirmed for Brazil?

Public announcements cover the Find, Reno and A smartphone families. OPPO described the Find X9 Pro as its first flagship smartphone launch in Brazil in 2026; the Reno16 and Reno16 F were announced for the country in August 2026. The March retail announcement also covered accessories including Enco Clip2 and OPPO Bubble. These product announcements establish Brazilian availability plans, not which devices are manufactured in Manaus.

What has not been disclosed about the operation?

  • Whether OPPO owns or directly operates a separate Brazilian factory.
  • The exact plant or production line used for OPPO products, its capacity, or production volumes.
  • Which models are made in Brazil and whether production varies by model.
  • The local-content percentage, OPPO-specific investment amount, or number of workers assigned to its production.
  • A timetable for expansion or a confirmed plan to export OPPO devices from Manaus.

The reported plans for investment in marketing, research and development, innovation, and local labor are not accompanied by a public amount or headcount in the available coverage.

What the expansion could mean for Brazilian buyers

Availability, support and warranty

A wider official presence can give buyers more ways to see products in person and may support local distribution and service. OPPO’s November 2024 announcement stated a two-year warranty for products purchased through official Brazilian points of sale. Buyers should check the current terms for the exact model and sales channel rather than assume that the policy covers every listing or imported device.

Local production does not guarantee a lower price

Manufacturing in Brazil does not by itself establish that a phone will cost less. Retail prices also depend on imported-component costs, exchange rates, taxes and incentives, distribution, retail margins, marketing, and product positioning. No price reduction attributable to local production has been established.

Check the Brazilian model, not just the model name

Imported and Brazilian-market versions of a phone can differ in network bands, SIM configuration, charger, software, NFC or eSIM availability, included accessories, and warranty. Before buying, compare the exact variant’s specifications and support terms. Anatel says devices and accessories such as chargers, cables and batteries must be certified before commercialization in Brazil; verify certification for the specific model. Anatel’s guidance explains the requirement.

What OPPO’s move says about the Brazilian market

OPPO’s retail openings, expanding product line and partner manufacturing show a deeper commitment than a launch based solely on imported sales. For the local market, the meaningful development is the combination of commercial expansion and production through a Brazilian partner—not evidence of a newly built OPPO-owned factory. Whether that strategy changes prices, local sourcing, or the scale of domestic production remains unsettled by the figures disclosed so far.
