The announcement did not disclose the investment amount, valuation, investment instrument, or other deal terms. “Decentralized epistemic truth machine” is Opinion Labs’ description of its ambition, not a performance claim established by the available evidence.
What did Binance Labs invest in?
Opinion Labs said the investment would support O.LAB, which the company described as a decentralized prediction market, dynamic opinion market, and optimistic oracle. The announcement was a paid press release supplied by Opinion Labs and hosted by CoinDesk; its product descriptions and figures should therefore be attributed to the company, not treated as independent verification. CoinDesk’s August 22, 2024 page carries the release, which is dated August 23.
O.LAB Prediction
In the release, Opinion Labs described O.LAB Prediction as a decentralized market where users could create topics and add liquidity for probability-based trading.
Optimistic Oracle
The company said its oracle mechanism secures data claims on-chain. That is a description of the intended function; the announcement does not independently demonstrate the mechanism’s accuracy or security.

How much was the Binance Labs investment?
The announcement does not state an amount, valuation, investment instrument, or deal terms. Later financing or token figures reported elsewhere relate to later dates and should not be substituted for the undisclosed 2024 investment.

What does “decentralized epistemic truth machine” mean?
“Epistemic truth machine” is Opinion Labs’ promotional framing for the idea that markets can aggregate information and produce useful judgments about events. The company’s co-founder and CEO, Forrest, argued in the announcement that “the free market provided by our prediction infrastructure is the most powerful tool for gathering accurate information about real-world events.” That statement expresses the company’s rationale; it does not establish that O.LAB produces accurate or unbiased outcomes.
The available project descriptions explain product components, but do not provide independent evidence that the platform finds truth, outperforms other information systems, or delivers unbiased results. A meaningful assessment would require evidence about market resolution rules, oracle and dispute processes, liquidity, trading costs, and independently verifiable activity.

Which usage figures did Opinion Labs report?
The press release reported more than 1 million registered users across multiple blockchain networks, 670,000 active on-chain users, and more than 12 million transactions. These are Opinion Labs’ figures in a company-supplied paid release, not independently audited statistics in that source. The release does not define the activity window for the active-user figure.

March 2026 developments
A Binance Research report dated March 7, 2026 describes OPINION as trading infrastructure for macroeconomic data, predictions, and news, and reports financing and token information as of the dates specified in that report. Separately, Binance announced a historical OPN Launchpool event in which users could lock BNB, USDC, U, and USD1 for rewards during a two-day farming period beginning March 3, 2026. Binance cautioned that referenced products or services might not be available in every region.
