ONGC’s 2025 recruitment notice for 108 engineering and geoscience posts is historical: applications were accepted from 10 to 24 January 2025, and the computer-based test (CBT) was tentatively scheduled for 23 February 2025. Those dates have passed. The notice was Advertisement No. 1/2025 (R&P); it is not an open application opportunity.
What posts did ONGC advertise?
The notice listed 108 vacancies across ten post and discipline combinations:

These figures are from ONGC’s Advertisement No. 1/2025 (R&P). The notice grouped posts by discipline; eligibility for one role should not be assumed to apply to another.
What qualifications and age rules applied?
Qualification requirements were specific to each post. Engineering roles generally required a relevant bachelor’s degree with at least 60% marks. Geologist and Geophysicist roles called for specified relevant postgraduate degrees and listed acceptable alternatives. Applicants needed to match the exact discipline and degree nomenclature in the advertisement.

ONGC stated: “Qualifications mentioned in the table above are sacrosanct. No equivalent Qualification will be accepted e.g. AMIE will not be considered where qualification is Graduate degree in Engineering.” In other words, an equivalent credential was not automatically accepted unless the notice expressly allowed it. Candidates in their final year were considered only if they met the required marks by 31 July 2025.
Age ceilings varied by role group and category, with relaxations under the notice’s rules. For example, the maximum age for unreserved/EWS applicants was 26 for engineering posts and 27 for Geologist and Geophysicist posts. A threshold should be read together with the relevant post group, category, and any applicable relaxation; a single age limit does not describe all candidates.

How did selection work?
The selection process began with a two-hour objective CBT. Its 85 questions were divided as follows:

The notice specified no negative marking. Candidates were shortlisted for interview based on CBT scores; shortlisted candidates were also subject to a group discussion. Final scoring allocated 85 marks to the CBT and 15 to the interview, with separate qualifying requirements. Appointment was conditional on passing ONGC’s medical examination.

For preparation, the useful comparison is the official syllabus against the relevant domain and the three general CBT sections. ONGC’s recruitment listing linked a syllabus and candidate materials; generic government-exam preparation alone may not cover the post-specific domain.
What were the application fee and pay scale?
The one-time registration charge in the notice was ₹1,000 for General, EWS, and OBC candidates. SC, ST, and PwBD candidates were exempt from the registration fee. The charge was non-refundable and excluded convenience or bank charges and GST.

The listed basic-pay scale was ₹60,000–₹1,80,000 under Advertisement No. 1/2025 (R&P). This is a basic-pay range, not a stated take-home salary; the advertisement also described allowances and benefits under company rules.
