What could preorder buyers get free?
The promotion did not give every buyer every accessory. Customers selected one available gift at checkout, and supplies were limited.

The Watch 3 had the highest nominal value, but that does not make it the best choice for everyone. A free smartwatch is poor value if it will stay in a drawer. Earbuds may be more useful for someone who does not wear a watch, while a case can be the most practical option for a buyer who needs protection immediately.

Which OnePlus 15 configuration made the most sense?

The extra $100 for the 16GB/512GB model could have been easier to justify if the Watch 3 was still available and useful to the buyer. But shoppers should not count the watch as $100 in cash value automatically. Its real value depends on whether they would otherwise buy and use it.
How the trade-in offer worked
OnePlus’ trade-in program provided an online estimate for an old device. The reported launch promotion also offered $100 in instant credit for trading in any phone and a further $100 cashback bonus after completing a qualifying trade-in.
“Any phone, in any condition” requires care. OnePlus distinguishes between ordinary trade-ins and devices accepted through a recycling route. A broken, unsupported or very old phone may receive only a recycling reward rather than meaningful resale credit. The initial estimate can also change after inspection.
According to OnePlus’ trade-in FAQ, customers generally had to ship the old device within 21 days after the relevant trade-in notification. Cashback could be delayed until the trade-in provider’s second quotation was accepted and the new phone’s return or replacement period ended. Returning the new phone could also affect promotional benefits.
Before trading in, compare OnePlus’ verified offer with the phone’s realistic resale value elsewhere. The relevant calculation is:
Effective cost = phone price − verified trade-in credit − valid cashback − realistic value of the selected gift.

Why was the U.S. launch delayed?
The OnePlus 15 launched globally on November 13, 2025, but did not initially go on sale in the United States. Contemporary reporting connected the delay to the phone’s FCC approval. The U.S. government shutdown ran from October 1 through November 12, 2025, and reporting said the resulting approval delay contributed to the later U.S. launch. That explanation should be treated as reported context, not as a direct OnePlus quotation.

OnePlus 15 features in context
OnePlus marketed the phone around a 7,300mAh-equivalent battery using a serial dual-cell design, a 165Hz display, a Snapdragon flagship platform and a triple-chip architecture. It also listed a triple-camera system with DetailMax processing, 4K/120fps Dolby Vision video, OxygenOS 16, Plus Mind and Google Gemini integration.
OnePlus claimed IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection ratings. Battery, camera, gaming and performance benefits in the company’s materials are manufacturer claims rather than independent test results. Plus Mind availability can vary by country or region.
Other fine print
- Gift inventory: “While supplies last” meant the preferred accessory could disappear first.
- Promotional stacking: Trade-in credit, cashback and gifts could have separate eligibility and fulfillment requirements.
- Checkout codes: OnePlus’ checkout information stated that only one voucher or gift code could be used per order.
- Returns: OnePlus launch pages advertised 15-day returns, subject to the applicable terms.
- Google AI Pro: The advertised three-month trial was listed through August 1, 2026, which has passed. It should not be treated as a current benefit without confirming new terms. The stated post-trial price was $19.99 per month unless canceled.
- Carrier support: Buyers should verify compatibility with their particular U.S. carrier and model rather than assume universal support.
Was the preorder deal worth it?
At launch, the offer was most compelling for someone who already wanted the 16GB/512GB OnePlus 15, valued the Watch 3 or Buds Pro 3, and had an old phone eligible for genuine trade-in credit. The bundle was less attractive for buyers who wanted to compare independent reviews, preferred a retailer’s return or financing process, or could sell their existing phone for more elsewhere.
