OneDoor Studios’ crowdfunding campaign for development of a film based on Nova McBee’s Calculated closed in December 2021. Wefunder reports that it raised $1,975,000 from 1,193 investors; OneDoor’s December 15 announcement rounded the result to $2 million. The company also said it planned a $6 million Regulation A offering early in 2022, but the available announcements do not establish that the offering launched on that schedule.
How much did the Calculated campaign raise?
Wefunder’s campaign page lists a total of $1,975,000 from 1,193 investors and says the campaign was funded in December 2021. OneDoor Studios’ December 15, 2021 press release described the result as $2 million. The figures are consistent: the press release used a rounded total. The campaign was described as funding development of a film based on Nova McBee’s novel, rather than as a production-financing campaign. OneDoor’s release characterized the $2 million as a development fund and said an estimated $45 million production budget was expected to come from bank financing. Those are company-announced figures and a financing expectation, not evidence that the production budget was secured.
What did crowdfunding investors receive?
OneDoor’s campaign materials advertised a minimum investment invitation of $100 and a revenue-share arrangement. The stated terms were that investors would recoup 110% of their investment before filming began, then share 50% of the development company’s ongoing profits after the film’s release. These are historic campaign terms, not a current offer or a promise that investors would be repaid or receive profits. Wefunder campaign page · OneDoor Studios press release, December 15, 2021
#1 Best Overall
The release distinguished this approach from what OneDoor’s CEO, Jay Brents, described as the typical film-crowdfunding model of raising production funding and then making the film. Here, the announced campaign purpose was development. For any film crowdfunding offer, the actual offering documents matter: check what costs the funds cover, when payments can be made, how “profits” are defined, what priority other financing has, and how production or distribution contingencies affect investor returns.
Did the planned $6 million Regulation A offering launch?
OneDoor’s December 2021 release said it was looking ahead to a $6 million Regulation A offering early the following year, intended to fund development of other books in the Calculated series. That statement establishes the company’s plan at the time; it does not establish that an offering launched in early 2022 or was completed. The sources available do not establish whether the offering later took place or whether any investment is currently open.

What happened after the campaign?
On March 9, 2022, OneDoor announced that screenwriter Ann Peacock had signed to write the film. The company forecast a completed shooting script in September 2023, production beginning in January 2024, and a premiere in April 2025. Those dates were forecasts published in 2022, not confirmation that the milestones occurred. The available announcements do not establish whether the film was ultimately produced or released. The campaign’s reported fundraising total and advertised terms describe a closed historical offer. They do not establish the film’s eventual commercial performance, the company’s later financing, or whether any investor received a return. A revenue-share description is not equivalent to a guaranteed repayment: the advertised payment depended on future events and company profits. Someone evaluating a comparable offer should rely on its current offering documents, not a past campaign headline or promotional summary.
