A one-off 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach sold for a recorded hammer price of $6,050,000 at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction on January 16, 2026. That is $2,112,500 more than the previous reported 918 Spyder auction record of $3,937,500, set in 2023. The increase supports the rounded “$2 million” headline, but it is a comparison of reported auction results—not evidence that every 918 is now worth more.
What did the Porsche 918 Spyder sell for?
Mecum’s official Kissimmee 2026 run list identifies the car as a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach and records a $6,050,000 hammer price on January 16, 2026. A hammer price is the auction price recorded at the fall of the hammer; it is not necessarily the buyer’s full cost after any applicable fees.
The $6.05 million result exceeded the cited 2023 record of $3,937,500 by $2,112,500. That difference is calculated by subtracting the earlier result from the Mecum hammer price; it is not a separately published auction statistic. The available figures do not establish that both prices use exactly the same fee basis, so the difference should not be read as a comparison of all-in transaction costs.
How does it compare with the previous 918 auction record?
| Sale | Reported result | Context |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 Mecum Kissimmee | $6,050,000 hammer price | 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach; January 16, 2026. Mecum run list. |
| 2023 RM Sotheby’s | $3,937,500 | 2015 Porsche 918 Weissach from the White Collection; record cited in an auction-related release. |
| Difference | $2,112,500 | Calculated from the two reported figures above; not an all-in cost comparison. |
The record claim is limited to publicly reported auction sales of 918 Spyder examples. These results do not establish a record for private transactions, which are not documented in the figures cited here.

What made this 918 unusual?
Autoblog’s January 2026 coverage reported that the car had 845 miles, a Paint-to-Sample Pure Orange exterior and the Weissach package. The same report said it sold new for $964,875 including options and destination. Those details are reporting about this example; they are not independently established here by a factory build sheet or a lot-specific Mecum page. In particular, the “one-of-one” description of the paint should be understood as a reported claim, not as factory-verified uniqueness.
The 918 Spyder is a plug-in hybrid combining a 4.6-liter V8 with electric motors. Autoblog reported combined output of 887 horsepower. Mecum’s description of a different 918 Weissach provides general context for the package’s weight-saving approach, including lightweight components and substitutions, but does not document this sale car’s individual options or weight reduction.

The low reported mileage, distinctive paint and Weissach equipment help explain why this example drew attention. The available results do not isolate the contribution of any one feature to the final price.

No. One exceptional sale cannot establish the typical value of the 918 Spyder market. The documented details point to a particularly distinctive example, and the available results do not provide a representative set of comparable transactions or enough evidence to estimate how much its paint, mileage or equipment affected the price. Treat the $6.05 million figure as a notable auction result for this car, not a general valuation or a forecast.
