No. OMRON opened its first Indian Automation Center in Mumbai on April 22, 2014. The company described that Mumbai facility as its fifth Automation Center worldwide. Its demonstrations included the SYSMAC platform, vision inspection, robotics and machine safety, with delta and SCARA robots and packaging machinery illustrating applications such as material handling. The 2014 announcement is available from OMRON Global.

The Bengaluru launch therefore adds a center to an established Indian presence rather than marking the beginning of OMRON’s automation-center activity in the country. OMRON’s India page also lists a Pune automated-optical-inspection lab and innovation labs in Gurgaon and Chennai, alongside the Bengaluru center. Its facility listing does not provide comparable detail here on each site’s technologies or intended audience.
