OISA 1937 was reported as an effort to revive Italian mechanical-watch movement production, beginning with the hand-wound 29-50 Cinque Ponti calibre. A 2021 launch report described the project and its plans; a 2025 collector feature later documented a Domenico Morezzi watch using the movement. Those accounts do not establish OISA’s present-day production or retail status.
What OISA 1937 is—and what is known about its history
OISA stands for Orologeria Italiana Società Azionaria. Specialist watch publication Monochrome Watches reported in 2021 that Domenico Morezzi founded the company in Milan in 1937 to make watch movements. The report describes a history of multiple calibres and millions of Italian-made movements, followed by a halt in activity during the quartz crisis. A 2025 collector feature says the original activity continued until the 1970s. These accounts establish the reported history, but no company archive or official current history is available in the cited sources.
The 2021 report presented the revival effort as involving Carlo Boggio Ferraris, founder Morezzi’s grandson; Marco Mantovani, identified at the time as LOCMAN’s president; Benedetto Perrotta of precision-manufacturing company Officina Meccanica Futura; and financial partner Andrea Morante. The 29-50 Cinque Ponti: the revival’s starting point
The initial focus, according to the 2021 report, was the hand-wound 29-50 Cinque Ponti. Morezzi had designed the calibre in the 1960s; for the reported revival it was remodelled to modern standards. The same report said components were made in Italy alongside a few Swiss-made parts, so “Made in Italy” should not be taken to mean every component came from Italy.

Ferraris described the project’s ambition as supplying the wider watch sector with “high quality, precision and reliable ‘Made in Italy’ mechanical movements.” Monochrome quoted him in 2021 as saying production had begun in workshops in Pavia. The article also reported a plan for about 1,000 movements in 2022 and a gradual increase from 2023, as well as an official presentation planned for January 2022. These are launch-era statements and forecasts, not verified output figures or evidence of current production.
A later watch using the OISA calibre
A 2025 Monochrome collector feature describes a limited-edition Domenico Morezzi watch powered by the 29-50 Cinque Ponti. It reports 18 yellow-gold examples and 97 steel examples. The collector says they chose a steel case with a blue dial and received the watch in November 2022, praising its size, finishing and movement. What the reports do—and do not—say about availability
The 2025 feature says Ferraris was no longer leading OISA when it was written and had developed Morezzi Milano, described there as formerly independent from OISA but still strongly connected. The available accounts do not verify the current legal or operational relationship between OISA and Morezzi Milano. They also do not establish present-day OISA production, official sales, retailer availability, or current specifications. Anyone considering a watch should verify the exact model, movement and seller directly rather than treating a historical launch plan or collector account as evidence of a current offer.
