What was the notified LPG price for December 2025?
Dawn reported the December maximum consumer price as Rs 208,991.40 per tonne, or Rs 2,466.10 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder. OGRA’s LPG notified-prices archive lists a notification dated December 1, 2025, but its accessible text does not show the detailed figures. The figures below are therefore attributed to contemporaneous reporting, not to a direct reading of the notice.

Dawn also reported the increase as Rs 7.39 per kg. ProPakistani separately corroborated the central cylinder-price figures in its December 2 report.
Why did the LPG price increase?
The reported price movement reflected two inputs moving in opposite directions. Dawn said Saudi Aramco-CP, the international benchmark used in the pricing mechanism, increased 4.93% from the prior month, while the average US dollar exchange rate fell 0.15%. The combined effect raised the reported consumer price.

OGRA explained in a December 31, 2024 release that the LPG producer price is linked to Saudi Aramco-CP and the US dollar exchange rate. Those inputs can also move in a direction that lowers the price; their combined change, rather than either one alone, determines the effect. The 2024 explanation is general context, not a statement about the December 2025 notification.
How was the reported maximum built up?
Dawn reported that the consumer-price calculation included Rs 35,000 per tonne for marketing, distribution and transportation, plus 18% GST on that margin. Its report gave the resulting December maximum as Rs 208,991.40 per tonne. These are components as described in the news report; the accessible official archive text does not provide the detailed notice calculation.

Does the maximum match the price at a local shop?
Not necessarily. The notified figure is a maximum consumer price, while local retail prices can differ. Dawn reported a range of Rs 300–315 per kg in Rawalpindi and Islamabad and described enforcement as weak. That is a location-specific example from the report, not a nationwide retail survey or a current price guide.
