What happened with the Officeworks delivery?
In a report published on 15 January 2024, PerthNow described a Perth parent’s complaint about an online school-list order: 38 items arrived in 23 boxes. The parent questioned the delivery system on social media and clarified that the stationery came from the same place, after commenters suggested the parcels might have come from different stores. The report showed a document wallet and a packet of highlighters arriving in separate boxes.
The parent’s post was reported to have received more than 1,200 reactions and more than 100 comments at the time of publication. Those are the figures in the 2024 report, not current engagement totals. PerthNow’s account does not explain the specific fulfilment or packing mechanics that resulted in the separate parcels.
What explanation did Officeworks give?
An Officeworks spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia that the company had isolated the incident to its Perth Customer Fulfilment Centre and attributed it to a technical fault. The spokesperson said: “We are working to rectify this with our supply chain teams to ensure minimal materials are used when packing orders,” and added: “We are sorry to hear of this customer’s recent online delivery experience.”
