OBS is the standard streaming software. It is free, powerful, and runs on any computer. But if you want a 24/7 YouTube channel, OBS creates a problem: your computer has to run OBS all day and night, consuming electricity, generating heat, and breaking when updates restart your machine without warning. For 24/7 streaming specifically, you need a different tool that doesn’t require a desktop running constantly.
This ranking evaluates OBS alternatives designed for always-on YouTube broadcasting, ordered by how well they solve the core OBS limitation: keeping the stream live without a computer that never sleeps.

1. StreamNeo
StreamNeo is built for creators who have video and want it to stream 24/7 without a computer running. Upload a video file once, paste your YouTube stream key, and the cloud handles the broadcast automatically. The service monitors the stream and restarts if the connection fails.

Run Prerecorded YouTube Video 24/7 From the Cloud
StreamNeo lets you upload a prerecorded video and paste your YouTube stream key so the broadcast runs in the cloud. That fits creators who want an always-on YouTube stream without leaving a PC or encoder running.
#1 Best Overall
- 15 Customizable LCD Keys: instantly control your apps, tools and platforms.
- One-Touch Operation: trigger single or multiple actions, launch social posts, adjust audio, mute mic, turn on lights, and much more.
- Visual Feedback: know that your command has been executed.
- Powerful Plugins: Elgato 4KCU, OBS, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Discord, Spotify, Philips Hue, and many more.
- Hotkey Actions: streamline your film editing, music production, photography workflow, etc.
StreamNeo checks stream health every 30 seconds and automatically restarts a dropped stream. This provides ongoing monitoring and recovery without requiring you to watch an overnight broadcast manually.
Start with the free 24-hour 720p/30fps trial, which requires no card at signup. Upload the video you plan to use, paste the stream key, and use the trial to confirm that the unattended workflow fits your channel.
Why this is better than OBS for 24/7: OBS requires your computer running all day. StreamNeo requires nothing—no desktop, no software installation, no encoder running in the background. Your computer stays off entirely.
Setup takes five minutes. Encoding is handled automatically. Recovery is automatic. The free 24-hour trial has no payment card required, which is long enough to upload a test video and confirm overnight reliability.
If you want to stream pre-recorded content 24/7, StreamNeo removes the entire problem that makes OBS unsuitable for this use case. OBS is for live broadcasting from your desktop. StreamNeo is for hands-off video looping.
2. OBS with a Cloud VPS
The technical alternative to replacing OBS is running it on a rented server in the cloud instead of your computer. You install OBS on a virtual machine, configure encoding, and let it stream from the cloud. Your computer can stay off.
This costs money for server rental and demands technical setup. You install OBS, configure profiles, create startup scripts, monitor the process, and restart it manually if it crashes. Overnight failures require you to ssh in and fix it. There is no support beyond community forums.

This is cheaper than StreamNeo in raw subscription cost but more expensive in your time. For someone without sysadmin experience, the hidden cost of troubleshooting and management usually exceeds StreamNeo’s monthly fee.

- Tactile Control, Visual Feedback: LCD keys, touch strip, and dials for audio, video, lighting, and more. Know that your command has been executed.
- Fully Customizable: Use as an audio mixer, studio controller, production console, etc.
- Multi Actions, Smart Profiles: trigger multiple actions at once or sequentially, automatically switch between interface configurations for different apps.
- Powerful Plugins: Elgato Wave Link, Camera Hub, Control Center, OBS, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Discord, Spotify, Philips Hue, and many more
- Stream Deck App and Store: drag and drop setup, download plugins, icons, thousands of royalty-free tracks, SFX, and more. Regular updates and new plugins frequently added.
3. Restream
Restream is a multistream broadcast platform. You stream once from your computer (or ingest a file), and Restream routes it to YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms simultaneously. If you want one broadcast feeding multiple platforms, Restream does that efficiently.
The advantage over OBS is that Restream handles the multistream routing for you. Instead of configuring OBS to output to multiple destinations and managing each connection separately, you push to one RTMP server and Restream distributes.
The disadvantage is that Restream is still designed around a source on your computer. You still need to run OBS or another encoder locally. Restream doesn’t solve the 24/7 computer-off problem. It is better at the multistream part of the workflow.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor 24/7 YouTube-only streaming, Restream is not the right tool. For YouTube plus Twitch simultaneously, it reduces complexity compared to dual OBS outputs.
StreamNeo is focused on the narrower use case of uploading prerecorded video for a hands-off YouTube stream. The broadcast runs in the cloud while your PC stays off, so there is no local encoder to keep running.
4. OneStream Live
OneStream Live is a general broadcast platform designed for flexibility. You can ingest live video from your computer, pre-recorded files, or external sources, then broadcast to multiple platforms with custom layouts and overlays.
Like Restream, OneStream Live assumes a source on your computer or a manually managed file. Unlike StreamNeo, it doesn’t assume the source is “upload once and loop forever.” It is built for creators who direct the stream or update content frequently.

- 36 macro keys: Trigger commands and access tools with one press; customize your controls in the Stream Deck app, free for PC and Mac; trigger Multi Actions to automate entire sequences with one press
- Six multifunction dials: Make quick adjustments with more precision; turn a single dial into many functions with tools like Action Trigger for extra control; adjust settings and levels with precision
- Touch strip display: See important information at a quick glance; see your most important info in real time on an expanded touch strip; access additional pages of actions with a quick swipe of your finger

Setup requires configuring sources, outputs, and scheduling. The learning curve is steeper than OBS but the interface is more visual and approachable than text-based OBS configuration.
For 24/7 channels, the advantage is scheduling and multistream support. The disadvantage is cost and ongoing management. This is an upgrade from OBS for creators who value interface polish and multistream routing, not for creators who just want video to loop.
5. Castr
Castr is another multistream broadcast platform in the same category as Restream and OneStream Live. You configure sources, define outputs to multiple platforms, and schedule broadcasts.
Castr’s interface is clean and the setup is straightforward compared to some competitors. But like the others in this category, Castr assumes you are sourcing content from somewhere—your computer, a file you manage, or an external service. It is not optimized for “upload once and forget.”
For 24/7 YouTube only, Castr adds complexity you don’t need. For multistream scheduling, it is viable.
6. Wirecast
Wirecast is professional broadcast software that competes with OBS in features but adds a paid license and more intuitive interface. You can capture video from your computer, external cameras, or files, and stream to multiple destinations.
Like OBS, Wirecast requires a computer running the software. The advantage is the interface is easier to learn than OBS. The disadvantage is the licensing cost and the fact that you still have the core 24/7 problem: the computer running Wirecast has to stay powered on.
Wirecast is better than OBS if you value ease of use, but it doesn’t solve the reason you might want an OBS alternative in the first place.
Rank #4
- Advanced Live Production: easily control your favorite tools and platforms.
- 32 Customizable LCD Keys: instantly trigger unlimited actions with a tap.
- Powerful Integrations: Elgato 4KCU, OBS, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Discord, Spotify, Philips Hue, vMix, VoiceMod, and more.
- One-Touch Operation: change scenes, launch media, switch cameras, tweak lighting, adjust audio, post tweets – anything.
- Visual Feedback: know that your command has been executed.
7. Streamlabs Desktop
Streamlabs Desktop is OBS-based software with a more polished interface and built-in monetization features. It is free and adds convenience compared to bare OBS, but it still requires your computer running all day.
For live broadcasting from your desktop, Streamlabs is an improvement over raw OBS in user experience. For 24/7 streaming, it has the same core limitation: you need a computer constantly powered on and running the encoder.
8. ATEM Software Control
ATEM is video switching software designed for professional studio use. You connect cameras, graphics, and video files through a hardware or software switcher and broadcast to multiple outputs.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →ATEM is over-engineered for simple 24/7 looping but valuable if you need studio-level switching and real-time graphics management. Setup requires understanding video routing, which is a step above OBS.
For 24/7 channels, ATEM is not the right choice unless you are running a professional studio broadcast. The cost and complexity don’t justify it for simple looping.
9. Shotcut (Free Video Editor + Manual Streaming)
Shotcut is a free video editor. You could theoretically export a looped video from Shotcut and stream it with OBS. But this is using a video editor as a streaming tool, which is not efficient.
This ranks last because it is not actually a streaming alternative—it is a workaround. It requires manual export, OBS to stream, and your computer running all day anyway.

What “OBS Alternative” Really Means
If you want a drop-in replacement for OBS with the same desktop software experience, Streamlabs or Wirecast are upgrades. But they still require your computer running all day.
Best Value
- Work smarter not harder: forget keyboard shortcuts. Stream Deck Mini lets you assign tedious, hard to memorise shortcuts to a single key. Instantly identify and activate them without error.
- Compatible with your apps: Seamlessly integrate with essential software including Zoom, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, GoogleSuite, MS Office, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Apps, Spotify, Music, and many more.
- Customizable LCD keys: Instantly activate commands and functions with a single tap.
- Easy Set Up: User-Friendly Software. Drag actions onto keys. Then personalize settings with ease.
- Multi-action efficiency: Execute multiple actions at once or in a sequence, precisely timed.
If you want an alternative that removes the need for a computer running 24/7, the options collapse down to StreamNeo (for looping video) or OBS on a cloud VPS (for technical users comfortable with server management).
The ranking assumes you chose “OBS alternative” because you want 24/7 streaming without a desktop always-on. That is the core problem most creators mention. The tools that solve that problem rise to the top. The tools that just make OBS better without solving the always-on problem rank lower.
The Real Choice
Do you want to keep using a desktop-based encoder and just want a better interface than OBS. If yes, Streamlabs or Wirecast.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

Do you want to stop running a computer all day and stream video automatically from the cloud. If yes, StreamNeo for simplicity or OBS on a VPS if you want full control and have the technical skills.
Do you need to route one stream to YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms simultaneously. If yes, Restream or OneStream Live.
For most creators asking about OBS alternatives because they are tired of running the computer 24/7, StreamNeo is the answer. It is not an alternative to OBS—it is a replacement for the entire approach. Upload video once, let the cloud stream it, and never run an encoder again.
To validate that decision, use StreamNeo‘s free 24-hour 720p/30fps trial with no card at signup. Upload the video you intend to loop and paste your YouTube stream key to test the unattended broadcast before committing.
