Nvidia Stock FAQs: Valuation, Splits, Dividends, and Risks

NVIDIA common stock trades on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under ticker NVDA. The company split its stock 10-for-1 in June 2024 and declared a quarterly dividend of $0.25 per share in 2026. Whether NVDA is overvalued cannot be determined from revenue growth alone: a meaningful valuation judgment requires a current share price, a defined earnings measure and comparable assumptions.

What is Nvidia’s stock ticker?

NVIDIA Corporation’s common stock trades on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker NVDA. The ticker identifies the security; it does not indicate whether the stock is attractively priced.

Is Nvidia stock overvalued?

There is no reliable yes-or-no answer without pairing a dated market price with a clearly defined measure of the company’s financial performance or expectations. A price-to-earnings ratio, for example, must be identified as trailing or forward, tied to a reporting period or forecast horizon, and attributed to a dated data source. A multiple is a comparison measure, not a fair-value verdict by itself.

NVIDIA reported $96.2 billion in revenue for Q2 FY2027, up 106% year over year; that quarter ended July 26, 2026. It reported $215.9 billion in FY2026 revenue, up 65% year over year. Neither growth figure alone establishes whether NVDA shares are overvalued: price, earnings, margins, cash generation, growth expectations and risk also matter. No October 7, 2026 share price, market capitalization or valuation multiple is established here, so no current multiple or price-based conclusion is quoted.

  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis

For a useful comparison, look at NVIDIA’s valuation over time and against relevant semiconductor or AI infrastructure companies using consistent reporting periods and accounting bases. Check whether earnings multiples are trailing or forward, and compare expected growth, margins, cash generation, customer and supplier concentration, export exposure, and sensitivity to supply and capital spending. A comparison that mixes different periods or forecast assumptions can mislead.

Did Nvidia split its stock?

Yes. NVIDIA effected a 10-for-1 stock split in June 2024. Shareholders of record at the close of market on June 6 received nine additional shares after the close of market on June 7.

Mechanically, the split multiplied the number of shares by ten and divided the pre-split per-share price by ten. It did not itself change an investor’s proportional ownership or the total value of that holding at the instant of the adjustment; later market movements can change both a share’s price and the company’s market capitalization. NVIDIA’s annual filing retrospectively adjusts share and per-share amounts for the split.

Does Nvidia pay a dividend?

Yes. NVIDIA increased its quarterly cash dividend from $0.01 to $0.25 per share on May 18, 2026. Its Q2 FY2027 earnings release declared a payment of $0.25 per share on October 1, 2026, to shareholders of record on September 10, 2026. Those dates describe that declared payment, not a standing schedule for future payments. NVIDIA says future cash dividends remain subject to the board’s continuing determination that declaring them is in shareholders’ best interests.

What are the risks of investing in Nvidia?

NVIDIA’s filings identify risks, not predictions. The company warns that any one of its disclosed risks could harm its business, financial condition, results or reputation and cause its stock price to decline. Key areas include:

  • Competition and pricing: Intense competition can pressure demand, pricing or the company’s ability to maintain its position.
  • Demand forecasting and supply: Misjudging demand can be costly, particularly when manufacturing capacity and products involve long lead times.
  • Supplier and manufacturing dependence: NVIDIA depends on third-party suppliers and manufacturing capacity; constraints can affect its ability to meet demand.
  • Export controls, regulation and geopolitics: Restrictions and other regulatory or geopolitical developments can affect where the company can sell or source products.
  • Expectations embedded in the share price: Even strong operating results may disappoint investors if they fall short of expectations, putting pressure on the stock.

These factors are relevant to valuation as well as operations: expectations for future growth and the risks to achieving it influence the price investors are willing to pay. A strong recent revenue increase does not remove those uncertainties.
