NVIDIA denied a report that it was discussing the acquisition of a PC maker. In a statement quoted by HotHardware, an NVIDIA spokesperson said: “The media report is false; NVIDIA is not engaged in discussions to acquire any PC maker.” Dell and HP were mentioned in the coverage as companies investors speculated about—not as confirmed targets.
What NVIDIA said
HotHardware quoted an NVIDIA spokesperson denying that the company was in discussions to acquire any PC maker. The spokesperson was not named, and the statement was attributed to NVIDIA by HotHardware rather than published directly by NVIDIA in the material available here. Read HotHardware’s April 14, 2026 report.
The headline’s “F-Bomb” is a joke about the word “false” in the denial; the quoted statement contains no profanity.
What the acquisition rumor claimed
HotHardware attributed the allegation to SemiAccurate, which reportedly claimed NVIDIA was negotiating to buy a large PC-oriented company. HotHardware said SemiAccurate described tracking the story since late 2024; that is SemiAccurate’s reported account, not independently established evidence of negotiations.

Dell and HP were speculative possibilities
HotHardware said investors speculated that Dell or HP could be potential targets. That speculation does not establish that either company was approached or that NVIDIA held acquisition talks with either one. The report does not independently verify the underlying allegation.
How investors reportedly reacted
HotHardware reported that Dell shares rose about 6% and HP shares about 5% amid speculation, citing a post by CNBC correspondent Kristina Partsinevelos on April 13, 2026. Those percentages are reported figures, not independently verified market data here, and should not be treated as evidence that a deal was underway.

Why NVIDIA’s Arm deal is separate context
HotHardware cited NVIDIA’s earlier attempted acquisition of Arm, valued at $40 billion, as historical context. The report said that deal was called off after regulatory hurdles and noted a non-refundable $1.25 billion payment to SoftBank. Those historical figures are reported by HotHardware; the Arm transaction does not establish that NVIDIA pursued a PC maker.
