Can you still apply for BET 2026?
No. The National Testing Agency’s 2026 application period ran from 19 March to 9 April. The application deadline was 9 April 2026 at 5:00 PM, and the fee-payment deadline was 11:50 PM that night. Those dates have passed.
The exam was conducted on 17 May 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, as a 180-minute computer-based test. The Department of Biotechnology directs candidates to the official NTA GAT-B/BET portal to view or download score cards.
What is BET, and how is it different from GAT-B?
The Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) is the qualifying examination for doctoral research fellowships under the Department of Biotechnology-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) programme. GAT-B serves a different purpose: it is an entrance examination for DBT-supported postgraduate programmes in biotechnology and allied areas. They are related examinations, but one is not a substitute for the other.

Where to check results and future application notices
For score-card access and official announcements, start at the NTA GAT-B/BET portal. The Department of Biotechnology also identifies that portal for BET 2026 score cards. No 2027 application schedule has been established in the official information cited here, so do not rely on an assumed deadline; wait for a new official notice.
For any future application, consult that cycle’s complete information bulletin for eligibility and application requirements. Requirements can depend on the candidate’s circumstances, and the 2026 dates do not establish the schedule for a later cycle.
