No. The available statements do not support a chain-wide decision by Target and Walmart to stop selling Xbox products. In October 2025, Microsoft said both retailers remained committed Xbox partners, and Target said it continued selling Xbox consoles, games and accessories in stores and on Target.com. That does not mean every item is in stock at every store or online right now.
What Microsoft and Target said
On October 13, 2025, Windows Central reported a statement from a Microsoft representative: “Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games.” Read Windows Central’s report.

In a contemporaneous report, CNET quoted Target as saying: “We continue to sell Xbox consoles, games and accessories, both in-stores and on Target.com.” Target also said select items were not appearing on its website because they were sold out and would appear again when available. Read the CNET report hosted by Yahoo Tech. These are statements reported in October 2025, not a live check of current listings or store shelves.
Why some stores or listings may look empty
The rumor began with a social post about one local Target, followed by other people describing what they had or had not seen at nearby Target or Walmart stores. Windows Central also reported counterexamples, including an Xbox alumnus who said he had found Xbox hardware and games in stores. Such observations can describe a particular store or moment; they do not establish a company-wide change in assortment.

What current Microsoft pages do—and do not—confirm
Microsoft’s Store price-protection policy, accessed October 7, 2026, lists Target and Walmart among eligible retailers for qualifying Xbox purchases, alongside Best Buy, Amazon and GameStop. The policy applies to price adjustments and requires the item to be fulfilled directly by the eligible retailer, rather than a third-party marketplace seller. It is not an inventory guarantee or confirmation that a specific product is currently listed. See Microsoft’s price-protection policy.
Xbox Wire’s June 25, 2026 console update discussed Xbox Series S and Series X and announced pricing effective August 1, 2026. That shows Microsoft continued official communications about those console models; it does not establish whether Target or Walmart has either one in stock. Read the Xbox Wire update.

How to check a particular Xbox product
- Search the exact console, game or accessory on Target.com or Walmart.com.
- Check the listing for the selected store or delivery location, since availability can vary by item and location.
- If the listing is missing or unavailable, check again later or contact the retailer; a single result does not establish a chain-wide removal.
The October 2025 statements and Microsoft’s price-protection policy support the conclusion that the retailers had not announced a general exit from Xbox products. They cannot settle present-day availability for a particular item or store, which requires checking the retailer’s current listing or local inventory.
